Job Description

Responsibilities and Tasks Reports directly to Shipping Supervisor. Maintains the Manifest logs and keeps trailer information up to date. Complete paperwork for USDA-certified loads (Kill Certificates). Prepares bills of lading for outgoing trucks. Handles Phone system in the Shipping office, taking calls from truck drivers, sales department, customers, plant operations, etc. Performs Data Entry of shipping information into system. Handles various office and administrative duties. May be assigned various other duties or projects as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working in an office setting is preferred. Ability to work in a sitting, standing, or alternating position. Must have effective communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to train others. Must have a basic understanding of the shipping process. Maintain inventory controls for proper rotation of products to include age, returns, and damaged containers. Above average computer literacy. Communicate with CFS when issues arise with the scanning system or inventory program. Assist in training other employees assigned to the shipping area. Familiar with MS Word and MS Excel. Environment:
primarily an office setting, working from a desk in an enclosed room with temperature control. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Lifting may involve periodic moving/lifting of heavy items exceeding 40 lbs. Extraneous situations may arise for which additional physical demands may be required. Must be able to use and handle a phone effectively. The candidate must have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful under unanticipated situations.
