Job Description

Job Summary The role of Shipping and Receiving Clerk is to assist Shipping & Receiving Department to verify and keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments and to prepare items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards. Essential Responsibilities
  • Receive and unload freight both manually and/or with equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks
  • Inspect shipments for damage or defects, record discrepancies or damages and notify Project Manager and Purchasing Manager
  • Verify quantity received against packing slip and purchase order, as well as verify quality of order
  • Sort, count, package, label, unpack and/or log inventory which is shipped or received
  • Prepare shipping paperwork, package and/or ship supplies
  • Verify receipt of signed copy of Packing Slip from customers
  • Deliver and/or retrieve material from cage or warehouse area
  • May receive, store and ship flammable, explosive or caustic and hazardous material
  • Maintain physical inventory records of shop supply items
  • Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiate proof of delivery documents
  • Maintain, organize and clean work area
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety and environmental standards
  • Verify receipt of MTR's, COC's, etc.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed
  • Perform any/all other duties as assigned by Management Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Must possess strong organization skills
  • Must possess experience in handling, storing and shipping materials or supplies
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
  • Ability to receive, track and distribute materials, supplies and equipment
  • Must be able to operate forklift, overhead crane, pallet jack, dolly etc.
  • Ability to process routine Shipping & Receiving paperwork
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heaving objects
  • Must be flexible to work additional hours, when needed
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel Qualification/Requirements A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) completion Desired Characteristics
  • 2+ years Shipping & Receiving preferred
  • Knowledge of MS Programs
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills Working Conditions Perform daily duties in a manufacturing and fabrication environment.
Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
