Job Description

Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Job Description This role focuses on coordinating daily shipping and receiving activities in a busy manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on FedEx and UPS packaging. You will handle primarily small packages, manage detailed administrative tasks in a new SAP-based ERP system, and support stockroom, warehouse, and shipping operations. The position requires a highly organized individual who is comfortable with computers, has strong attention to detail, and can efficiently manage multiple priorities on the shipping floor. Responsibilities Review the shipping floor each day to monitor order status and ensure shipments move on schedule. Perform daily safety checks to maintain a safe and compliant work area. Review and address needs in the subcontract area, coordinating materials and shipments as required. Package products in small, medium, and large packaging areas according to company standards and customer requirements. Route shipments through FedEx and UPS stations, ensuring accurate labeling, documentation, and carrier selection. Close orders in the system to prepare them for invoicing and accurate recordkeeping. Process international shipments in the small and medium packaging areas, including required documentation and system updates. Load trucks with outgoing shipments, ensuring correct staging, secure loading, and adherence to shipping schedules. Support the Senior Shipper with daily tasks and provide assistance to Receiving and Stockroom areas as needed. Perform other shipping, receiving, and material handling duties as assigned by the supervisor. Use the ERP system (SAP) for data entry, order processing, and inventory-related tasks. Assist with inventory-related activities such as picking, packing, and order selection to support overall warehouse operations. Essential Skills 1-2+ years of experience with FedEx or UPS packaging, primarily handling smaller packages. At least one year of shipping or material handling experience. At least one year of manufacturing experience. Experience working in stockroom, warehouse, or shipping environments. Proven forklift experience. Experience operating an overhead crane. High school diploma or GED. Proven computer skills, including the ability to work with ERP systems such as SAP and perform accurate data entry. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Excellent memory for details and strong attention to accuracy. Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities. Ability to lift or move heavy materials in challenging work positions as part of daily duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with inventory control, shipping and receiving, picking, order selection, packing, and packaging. Familiarity with ERP systems and data entry in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Comfort working with FedEx and other major carriers for both domestic and international shipments. Ability to support multiple areas, including shipping, receiving, and stockroom, as operational needs change. Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and team members. Reliability and flexibility to support overtime when needed to meet production and shipping demands. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
