Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Clerk supports daily warehouse operations by printing customer labels and packaging orders, overseeing shipping and receiving activities, and maintaining accurate documentation and inventory control. This role ensures that all incoming and outgoing materials are correctly counted, documented, and routed, while also assisting with loading and unloading trucks and organizing products in their proper stock locations. The clerk also prints customer orders, builds orders for shipment, and helps maintain an organized, efficient, and quality-focused warehouse environment. Responsibilities Print customer labels and packaging orders accurately and in a timely manner. Oversee daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure accuracy and completeness. Verify counts of incoming and outgoing materials and reconcile any discrepancies. Route shipping and receiving documentation to the appropriate recordkeeping units, such as Accounts Payable. Maintain accurate inventory control, including proper stock rotation and organization. Assist with loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently. Put away products in the correct stock locations and maintain a clean, organized warehouse area. Print customer orders and build orders to be shipped according to specifications and schedules. Perform picking, order selection, kitting, and material handling tasks as needed. Use basic computer and data entry skills to update records and track shipments and inventory. Collaborate with a small team while working independently to complete assigned orders. Provide courteous and responsive customer service related to shipping and receiving activities. Support logistics processes to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Essential Skills At least 6 months of shipping and receiving experience. At least 6 months of basic computer and data entry experience. Experience with inventory and inventory control processes. Ability to perform picking, order selection, and kitting tasks. Material handling skills, including loading and unloading products. Basic logistics knowledge related to shipping and receiving operations. Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counts and documentation. Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and internal departments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating a forklift or similar warehouse equipment. Background in customer service within a warehouse or logistics environment. Comfort using computer systems for data entry and recordkeeping. Ability to follow Lean Manufacturing principles and standardized work practices. Interest in learning and applying ISO quality system standards. Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled warehouse environment, working within a close-knit team of approximately four people while also handling independent order-building responsibilities. Typical hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with potential opportunities for overtime after 40 hours. The atmosphere is described as team-oriented and family-like, fostering collaboration and mutual support. Work involves regular use of standard warehouse equipment and material handling tasks, with a focus on organization, accuracy, and safety. The dress code is casual and practical, allowing jeans, sweatshirts, and T-shirts, suitable for a hands-on warehouse setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
