Job Description
Description We are looking for a dependable, part-time, Mailroom Assistant to support mail, shipping, and inventory activities for a higher education organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract position focuses on preparing assessment materials, processing incoming and outgoing shipments, and keeping records accurate and organized. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, follows established procedures carefully, and handles sensitive materials with professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare assessment kits for shipment, ensuring each package is assembled correctly and sent to the appropriate destination.
- Receive returned materials, review contents for accuracy, and verify that all required items have been included.
- Sort, organize, and replenish kits, supplies, and related materials to keep inventory ready for ongoing use.
- Maintain up-to-date logs for shipping activity, package tracking, and stock levels using basic computer systems.
- Examine returned kits for missing or incomplete contents and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate team members.
- Manage daily incoming and outgoing mailroom workflows to support timely distribution and receipt of materials.
- Assist with clerical tasks such as filing, record updates, and documentation related to mailroom and inventory operations.
- Handle confidential assessment materials with care and in accordance with organizational and compliance standards. Requirements
- Previous experience in mailroom support, shipping and receiving, administrative coordination, or inventory-related work is preferred.
- Strong organizational abilities with close attention to detail in repetitive, process-driven tasks.
- Ability to lift and move packages, mail bins, file boxes, and supplies as part of daily responsibilities.
- Basic computer proficiency, including data entry, electronic recordkeeping, and tracking shipments or inventory.
- Effective communication skills and a reliable approach to meeting deadlines and following procedures.
- Comfort working with frequent mail handling, package distribution, and routine material processing.
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or another structured and regulated environment is an advantage.
