Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping Associate to join our team in a fast-paced modular building and steel fabrication environment. The Shipping Associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, and loading materials, components, and finished buildings for shipment to customer sites or internal locations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely and accurate deliveries while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and package modular building components, steel parts, and assemblies for shipment.
- Verify shipment contents and ensure proper labeling, documentation, and load configuration.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks in coordination with production and logistics teams.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by recording outgoing and incoming materials in ERP or inventory system.
- Inspect outgoing shipments to ensure product quality and conformance with company standards.
- Ensure proper securing of loads to prevent damage during transport.
- Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and compliant with safety procedures.
- Assist in receiving materials when needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- 1+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics (manufacturing or steel shop experience preferred).
- Past Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to read shipping documents, work orders, and interpret drawings (basic understanding of blueprints a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in outdoor or semi-enclosed environments.
- Basic understanding of power tools.
Work Environment:
Indoor/outdoor warehouse and manufacturing yard. Exposure to heavy equipment, steel materials, and construction components. Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required.
