Under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director, Laboratory Administrative Director, and Supervisor of Specimen Procurement and Dispatch Services, primary duties include Specimen Processing, Customer Service, Phlebotomy. Maintain familiarity with computer procedures in order to perform various assigned functions related to demographic data, test requisitioning, labels, and reports. Retrieve and provide data as appropriate. Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures. Maintain a safe and professional environment for patients, clients, and employees by adhering to established safety guidelines, including the use of appropriate precautions, safety equipment, and practices. Receive and process specimens (COVID swabs, blood, urine, etc.) as appropriate from all Inpatient units and Outpatients, Outreach Clients, and other regional healthcare facilities. Evaluate all specimens for adequacy and accuracy. Make sure specimen type and labeling are appropriate. High school graduate or GED. One year of clinical laboratory experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity, and discretion. Honest, dependable, and have precise attention to detail. Thorough, concise, accurate documentation. Team building skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high volume and stressful environment. Advanced competency with computers required.•
