Position Purpose The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Their duties include daily inbound receipts, preparing domestic and international outbound shipments, loading and unloading trucks, and general dock activities. Responsibilities Process inbound and outbound shipments according to company procedures
Use ERP/logistics software to track shipments (Epicor or similar).
Perform quality inspections of shipments based on project and/or company procedures
Prepare packing materials, labels, and documents (commercial invoices, BOLs).
Load/unload trucks using pallet jacks or forklifts
Store materials in proper locations using standard warehouse equipment
Track and update shipping status as directed
Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety procedures
Collaborate and communicate with others involved in the shipment and receipt of products
Collaborate effectively with logistics team members and drivers
Report discrepancies or issues to a supervisor
Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including tools and equipment
Position Requirements
To perform the essential responsibilities, individuals must have the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. Additionally, the following certifications, knowledge, skills, or physical requirements are necessary for the position. High School GED or Diploma Required
1+ years shipping/receiving experience.
Basic understanding of shipping documents and warehouse equipment.
Willingness to learn, ask questions, and handle shifting priorities.
Communication skills which include, but are not limited to, written and oral communication, active listening, nonverbal communication
Teamwork through development of skills to collaborate with others to achieve departmental goals
Dependability, responsibility, and consistency in job performance
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:
Must be able to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.
Must be able to carry 50 lbs.
Must be able to pull or push 50 lbs.
Work conditions of the role are:
Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions, including weather conditions for truck loading and unloading
Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toe shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
