Responsibilities Operate sit-down forklifts to move, stage, and load steel plates and other materials throughout the shipping department and onto trucks for shipment. Follow customer orders and shipping instructions carefully to ensure accurate and timely shipment of products. Measure steel plates and other materials using tape measures and measurement tools, including reading measurements to 1/32 of an inch and verifying diameters and dimensions prior to shipping. Grind and deburr steel plates and other parts using handheld grinders to remove imperfections and sharp edges before packaging. Prepare and assemble secure packages by strapping work on skids, boxing products in correctly sized containers, and labeling pieces accurately with types and heat numbers. Palletize products and organize shipments to ensure safe transport and efficient movement through the shipping and warehouse areas. Complete necessary shipping paperwork, including bills of lading and related documentation, with accuracy and attention to detail. Read and interpret work orders, instructions, drawings, and prints to determine correct materials, measurements, and shipping requirements. Maintain a clean and organized bench, workstation, and surrounding work area to support safety and efficiency. Learn and correctly identify different grades and gauges of material used in production and shipping. Handle general warehouse and material handling duties as needed, including shipping, receiving, inventory support, and labor tasks. Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions when measuring and documenting dimensions. Work collaboratively with team members, contribute to a positive team environment, and support overall department goals. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
