Full Job Description Description:
The Shipping/Receiving Associate prepares outbound shipments, helps receive incoming finished goods and raw materials and works closely with the Warehouse Team to ensure the receiving process is managed efficiently and accurately. Must ensure customer instructions are understood, shipments are prepared per the SOP, and shipments are prioritized by ship dates and/or delivery type. Helps maintain organization and cleanliness throughout the warehouse. Must be receptive to instructions regarding shipments, receiving, and daily warehouse functions. Work with production to follow up on inventory availability, and assist with implementing improvements, including the streamlining of processes to leverage technologies and improve efficiencies. The Chemical Shipping & Receiving Associate should be a highly motivated, well organized individual willing to take both initiative and direction. This person must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and bring a positive energy to the plant each day. They must possess a strong desire to learn and grow professionally. This person should be a team player with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Duties & Responsibilities Embrace & promote Halocarbon's core values of Caring, Curiosity, Collaboration, & Competitive Spirit. Works with Warehouse team to ensure that products move efficiently from storage to point of sale. Load all finished products and unload all materials, supplies, and equipment. Verify counts and weights against bill of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Prepare all parcels for shipment. Receive & accept direction from Warehouse Lead Chemical Shipping & Receiving Associate regarding prioritization of assignments and daily warehouse activities. Must verify all paperwork to ensure product matches pick instructions.
Objective:
On test, on time, and on paper. Stage materials for counting and inspection. Examine outgoing shipments by following the Halocarbon Shipment Checklist. Move material from Receiving to the Warehouse in an efficient, effective, and safe manner. Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Report all accidents and incidents to Manager. Comply with departmental procedures and best practices, including adherence to checklists. Analytical Ability/Problem Solving/Technical skills Good written and verbal communication skills. Must have good verbal and written communication abilities and good analytical abilities. Exceptional attention to detail. Good organizational skills. Basic computer knowledge required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to safely operate forklift, reach truck, and other equipment for transporting materials throughout the site. Must be able to work overtime as needed. Demonstrates a high degree of honesty, integrity, and work ethic. Work with and respect people at all levels of the organization. Level of Supervision Needed Ability to work independently with a moderate level of supervision. Autonomy and Supervisory/Lead Responsibility Requires minimum direction from Warehouse Manager.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience High School Diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent required. 5 years warehouse experience preferred. Chemical industry experience required. Shipping DOT hazmat training, experience in Shipping and Receiving or Inventory Control preferred. Safety/Essential Functions Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must complete Department of Transportation (DOT), International Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) training within the first 90 days and maintain certifications. Within the first 90 days must demonstrate computer skills necessary to complete the training and ship materials. Within the first 120 days, must become certified in the operation of a forklift and maintain certification. Must be capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb and descend stairs and ladders. Must be able to use equipment within its design limits (weight limit on a ladder, for example). Must be capable of working in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.). Must be able to use all available or assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools. Must be able to work in an environment where chemical odors may exist at permissible threshold limits of exposure. In the event of an emergency or drill; must be able to evacuate the plant, reporting to appropriate assigned muster point. Halocarbon is an equal opportunity employer.
