Job Description

Role Summary The Shipping Clerk supports shipping, receiving, warehouse, cold storage inventory, and related operational activities at a Blue Bell Creameries branch. This role assists with product movement, loading and unloading activities, shipping documentation, transport intake coordination, inventory support, and general housekeeping within the shipping and warehouse areas. The Shipping Associate works closely with branch personnel and internal departments to support efficient loading procedures, accurate product handling, and overall branch operational performance. Key Responsibilities Assist with loading, unloading, and moving products to support shipping and receiving activities. Prepare, process, and maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory records, reports, and related documentation accurately and on time. Coordinate transport intake and assist with scheduling inbound and outbound shipping activities. Support cold storage inventory activities, including product rotation, stock checks, and inventory accuracy. Support efficient and timely loading procedures by preparing paperwork and coordinating with shipping and warehouse personnel. Perform administrative and office duties, including filing, data entry, and submitting required reports. Maintain cleanliness and organization in shipping, warehouse, and work areas and report facility, equipment, or inventory concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Follow company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards throughout shipping and warehouse activities. Work cooperatively with branch personnel and internal departments to support product flow and branch operations. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, and product handling preferred. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to follow instructions, work independently when needed, and contribute to a team-oriented environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with branch personnel and internal departments. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use company systems, reports, and communication tools as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, or a related operational role preferred. Basic computer skills and experience with data entry, recordkeeping, or operational documentation preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced shipping and warehouse environment. Demonstrated ability to support shipping processes, maintain accurate records, and work effectively as part of a team.
Physical Requirements Mobility:
Requires frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the warehouse, shipping, receiving, and office areas.
Manual Dexterity:
Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle product, shipping materials, paperwork, and standard office or communication equipment.
Lifting and Carrying:
Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull product, shipping supplies, or other items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Postural Activities:
Requires frequent bending, reaching, and stooping and occasional climbing as needed to support shipping, inventory, and warehouse activities.
Vision:
Requires near and distance vision sufficient to read shipping documents, inventory records, labels, and monitor product handling activities.
Communication:
Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication with employees and internal departments, and exchange accurate information in a timely manner.
Environmental Conditions:
May be exposed to refrigerated or freezer areas, warehouse conditions, loading docks, and varying temperatures during shipping and receiving activities. Work Environment This position operates in a combination of office, warehouse, shipping dock, and branch environments and is responsible for supporting shipping, receiving, and inventory activities for a Blue Bell branch. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, company systems, mobile devices, and communication tools. Regular interaction with branch personnel and internal departments is required. The position may require exposure to refrigerated storage areas, warehouse settings, loading docks, and outdoor weather conditions. Work environment subject to change based on business needs and assigned duties.
