Job Description

Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description This role focuses on accurately processing all shipping and receiving activities within a warehouse environment, ensuring inventory integrity, timely order fulfillment, and professional handling of materials and equipment. You will operate forklifts and RF scanners, work within a Warehouse Management System, and support daily logistics operations in a small, family-oriented warehouse setting. Responsibilities Process all shipping and receiving activities in accordance with established procedures and timelines. Receive vendor shipments and put away materials using Wireless Warehouse tools and the Warehouse Management System. Handle all product transfers between locations and ensure accurate documentation. Pull and stage orders as assigned, using RF scanners and other warehouse tools. Perform final inspection on products before shipment to verify accuracy, quality, and packaging. Resolve vendor shipping errors by investigating discrepancies and coordinating corrective actions. Perform inventory cycle counting and investigate variances to maintain accurate stock records. Schedule pickups and review ticket backlogs within the Warehouse Management System to support efficient order flow. Maintain a working knowledge of basic order fulfillment practices and procedures. Maintain a working knowledge of customer site safety requirements and follow them consistently. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely to move, load, and unload materials. Lift and handle objects weighing up to 75 pounds as part of daily warehouse operations. Use Microsoft Office and other computer applications to complete data entry and documentation related to shipping, receiving, and inventory control. Use carriers such as FedEx and related systems to prepare and process outbound shipments. Keep the warehouse and shop areas clean, organized, and professional in appearance. Participate in voluntary overtime as needed to support business demands. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse environment. Proven forklift experience with any type of forklift equipment. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly. Hands-on experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS), including shipping, receiving, cycle counting, investigating variances, scheduling pickups, and reviewing ticket backlogs. Experience using RF scanners for order picking, receiving, and inventory control. Proficiency with computer systems and data entry, including use of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with inventory control, order pulling, material handling, and picking. Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong attention to detail for final inspection of products prior to shipment. Basic knowledge of carrier systems such as FedEx for processing outbound shipments. Ability to follow safety requirements at customer sites and within the warehouse. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Prophet21 or similar Warehouse Management Systems. Familiarity with Wireless Warehouse tools and processes. Comfort working with corrosion-resistant products such as pipe, valves, fittings, tanks, grating, hose, expansion joints, pumps, filtration, instrumentation, and other specialty equipment. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple orders, transfers, and inventory tasks. Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and resolve shipping or inventory issues. Work Environment The role is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment that handles corrosion-resistant pipe, valves, fittings, tanks, grating, hose, expansion joints, pumps, filtration, instrumentation, and other specialty equipment. You will work primarily on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with voluntary overtime offered as needed. The position involves regular use of forklifts, RF scanners, and Warehouse Management System tools such as Prophet21, as well as computers with Microsoft Office and carrier systems like FedEx. The warehouse and shop areas are maintained to look professional and clean, and you are expected to follow all safety guidelines while working with material handling equipment and heavy loads. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
