Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material. Essential Functions Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand-truck, forklift, or sorting bins Hardware pack-outs for projects of varying size Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock Compute amounts, such as space available, and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using calculator or price list. Process customer returns, vendor returns and RMAs to manufacturers Other relative duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience Forklift certification preferred At least 6 months of relative experience Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic computer skills - experience with Outlook, Word and Excel Good communication skills Ability to accurately do arithmetic, read orders, write instructions and complete forms Ability to work closely and cordially with other staff associates Physical Demands This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required. Work Environment This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
