About the
Role:
The Receiving Clerk plays a critical role in the manufacturing supply chain by ensuring that all incoming materials and products are accurately received, inspected, and documented. This position is responsible for verifying shipment contents against purchase orders and delivery documents to maintain inventory accuracy and support production schedules. The Receiving Clerk collaborates closely with warehouse, quality control, and procurement teams to resolve discrepancies and facilitate smooth material flow. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential to prevent errors that could impact manufacturing operations. Ultimately, this role contributes to operational efficiency by maintaining accurate records and supporting timely availability of materials for production.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management software or databases. Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing lists, and shipping documents. Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse receiving role. Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in material handling. Experience using barcode scanners and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems. Basic knowledge of quality control procedures. Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
Responsibilities:
Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and condition against purchase orders and packing lists. Document and report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the appropriate departments for resolution. Update inventory management systems promptly to reflect received goods and maintain accurate stock levels. Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and handling of materials following safety and organizational protocols. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized receiving area to promote safety and efficiency. Communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to facilitate timely receipt and processing of materials. Support periodic inventory audits and cycle counts as required.
