Shipping and Receiving Clerk

OVERALL PURPOSE
We are a small, team-oriented manufacturing company in Kent who works at a very fast pace, and is looking for someone who is dependable , has strong computer skills , is organized, able to multi-task and prioritize, and can be on their feet all day. We need someone who has an eye for detail (very important), strong work ethic, and is a team player but can also work independently. This is an entry level position, and there will be on the job training. This position is responsible for all inventory of incoming and outgoing materials. This position is required to conduct business in a professional and cordial manner that will uphold the integrity and reputation of Custom Hydraulic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Review contract and packaging codes to prepare for shipments. 2. Package outgoing shipments in accordance with contract requirements. 3. Develop knowledge of standard clauses, coded notes, FAR "Federal Acquisition Regulation" clauses, commercial packaging practices military and specifications specific to contract shipping requirements. 4. Develop knowledge about carriers and various freight terms and shipping regulations and practices. 5. Interact with delivery drivers 6. Make local deliveries/Pick-ups in company van 7. Issue material and generate purchase orders on shop orders for outside processes. 8. Receive all incoming shipments and verify trace codes and/or heat numbers as required, condition and count. 9. Ensure incoming material is properly received and recorded in our MRP system. 10. Perform marking and product identification as required per shop order. 11. Deburring and washing of parts 12. Include certification packages with material shipment.
OTHER DUTIES
  • Responsible for the acquisition and management of shipping supplies.
  • Clean work area including inventory stock areas
  • Identify problems, investigate the root-cause, and make recommendations for solutions
  • Perform other related duties as required

  • Review and Understanding of the Quality Manual for all related work instructions
  • On-The-Job-Training as it applies to this position
PERFORMANCE
Issue shipments on schedule and on time according to contract requirements. Decrease quality notification for improperly packaged shipments. Able to work/keep-up in a very fast paced environment Strong work ethic Organized / able to manage time efficiently Able to adjust to frequent priority changes (this position incurs many interruptions and priority changes daily) Respond to unpredictability Read, Comprehend and Follow Instructions/Work Orders/Drawings
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 year assembling parts in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Shipping experience preferred
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • Valid WA State Driver's License with a clean driving record (no exceptions)
  • Must be a U.
