What You Will Do:
The Manager, Distribution Design oversees the planning and design of new and upgraded electric and communication distribution facilities, ensuring alignment with Trico's standards for safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. This role supports system planning and engineering while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of GIS mapping and spatial data used for system design, asset tracking, and long-term planning. The position leverages AI, GIS, and other digital tools to enhance design efficiency, improve data-driven decision-making, and support infrastructure expansion. The Manager promotes a culture of innovation by encouraging responsible use of emerging technologies and continuously improving design and mapping processes. As a leader, the Manager provides coaching, mentorship, and direction to develop a high-performing, collaborative team. This role delivers timely, high-quality analysis and recommendations that inform leadership decisions, support operational planning, and advance the Cooperative's long-term strategic and financial goals. Key duties and expectations include, but are not limited to, the following: Lead and oversee distribution design projects, ensuring high-quality designs, accurate staking sheets, and alignment with construction plans Partner with Engineering to support system planning efforts, including long-range planning, construction work plans, and regulatory reporting Drive efficient project execution by improving workflows, ensuring accountability, and maintaining compliance from design through project close-out Maintain and enhance GIS data accuracy and integration to support system mapping, asset management, and future growth Coordinate cross-functional efforts to secure permits, approvals, and compliance with industry standards (NESC, RUS, and regulatory requirements) Champion continuous improvement by tracking performance metrics, developing team capabilities, and leveraging innovative technologies, including AI What You Bring to
Trico:
A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or other applied sciences (is preferred) or applicable certification program and at least ten years of experience in engineering and design in electric utility field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education requirements. Experience with NISC's iVUE and iVUE Connect platforms is preferred. Experience with Auto
CAD, RUS
design requirements, surveying, and field staking. iVUE Connect Staking experience is preferred. Experience with fiber communications planning, design, construction, or operations in a utility or cooperative environment is preferred.
