San Leandro, CA Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Yard Manager to oversee daily operations at a busy metal recycling yard. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in metal recycling operations, and the ability to manage staff, equipment, and material flow safely and efficiently. This role requires someone who is organized, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day yard operations including receiving, sorting, processing, and shipping scrap metal. Supervise yard employees and equipment operators to ensure safe and efficient workflow. Coordinate inbound and outbound material, including trucks and customer deliveries. Ensure compliance with safety policies and maintain a clean and organized yard environment. Monitor inventory of materials and communicate with management regarding production and operational needs. Train and guide staff on proper procedures, safety practices, and equipment use. Maintain operational efficiency and productivity while meeting company targets. Assist with customer service when needed, including working with contractors, drivers, and suppliers. Qualifications Previous experience in metal recycling, scrap yard, or related industrial environment required. Experience supervising or managing yard or warehouse teams. Knowledge of different types of scrap metal and recycling processes preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Forklift or heavy equipment experience is a plus. Ability to lift, move, and manage materials safely.
