Job Description

Position Summary The Warehouse Assistant supports the daily operations of the shop, warehouse, and yard by assisting with inventory control, material handling, tool tracking, equipment coordination, receiving deliveries, and maintaining an organized work environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring field crews, project managers, and operations personnel have the tools, materials, and equipment needed to safely and efficiently execute projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inventory & Material Management Assist with receiving, unloading, inspecting, and stocking incoming materials and supplies. Maintain accurate inventory records of tools, consumables, PPE, and equipment. Conduct routine inventory counts and report discrepancies. Organize shop stock and storage areas to maintain efficiency and cleanliness. Prepare materials and equipment for upcoming projects and field crews. Tool & Equipment Control Issue and receive tools and equipment to employees. Maintain tool sign-out and return logs. Inspect tools and equipment for damage and report repair needs. Assist in scheduling equipment maintenance and repairs. Ensure equipment certifications and inspection records are current. Shipping & Receiving Verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders. Label and distribute received materials to appropriate jobs or departments. Prepare outgoing shipments and coordinate deliveries. Maintain receiving documentation and records. Shop & Yard Organization Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, warehouse, and yard. Assist with housekeeping and facility upkeep. Organize laydown areas, storage racks, and material staging locations. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements. Project Support Stage materials, tools, and equipment for mobilizations and shutdowns. Support project teams with material requests and deliveries. Assist with loading and unloading company vehicles and trailers. Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and foremen regarding material needs. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. 1-3 years of warehouse, construction, shop, or industrial experience preferred. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain). Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Ability to read packing slips, shipping documents, and inventory records. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and customer service skills. Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with construction tools and equipment. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb throughout the workday. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Success Measures Inventory accuracy maintained at company standards. Timely fulfillment of field and project requests. Proper tracking and accountability of company tools and equipment. Safe and organized shop, warehouse, and yard operations. Positive support to field operations and project teams. Typical Construction Company Responsibilities Manage consumable inventory (grinding wheels, welding supplies, rigging gear, PPE, hardware, etc.). Track and issue millwright, ironworker, civil, and rigging tools. Coordinate maintenance and inspections for trailers, forklifts, welders, and company equipment. Stage project materials and equipment for mobilizations. Assist with receiving structural steel, machinery, pipe, and construction materials. Support field crews across all CCI self-perform divisions.
