Job Summary:
Supervises and coordinates all activities of the sales and delivery drivers in a region and assists with the service of their customers. Responsible for optimizing delivery routes, managing driver schedules, and maintaining high standards of customer service. The area supervisor will ensure that all processes are followed related to delivery operations including but not limited to DOT standards, OSHA safety standards, merchandising operations, and route reconciliation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Lives and models the values stated by the parent company in everything we do. Visits accounts and clients to conduct reviews, maintain good relations and react to any comments, suggestions, or concerns for the purpose of account retention. Cold calling on new customers to obtain their business. Attain sales quotas and goals set by management. Develop and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and minimize transportation costs. Run hot shot deliveries to customers when route drivers are not available. Utilize route planning software and tools to enhance delivery operations. Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, correcting, and evaluating performance of delivery staff. Must attain assigned benchmarks by route and overall. Develops Team Members to improve their sales, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Supervise and lead a team of route drivers, providing guidance and support, by monitoring performance and adherence to schedules and safety standards. Continuous communication with management and fosters open lines of communication with direct reports. Ensures a safe working environment and communicates company safety policies and goals to team members. Ensures proper maintenance of fleet vehicles and the cleanliness and organization of storage facilities. Be able to do all aspects of route processes and be willing to run a route as necessary. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to delivery operations. Prepare regular reports on route performance and driver productivity.
Physical Demands:
Able to lift up to 30 lbs continuously and 60 lbs. intermittently. Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a frequent basis. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time. Drive a vehicle and enter and exit the vehicle multiple times throughout the shift.
Work Environment:
Work in many different environments: outside, inside, break rooms, stores Exposed to cold, hot, and rainy conditions. Most of the work is spent traveling in the territory. Valid driver's license and approved driving record. Class A or B License required 2 years of supervisory/management experience. Ability to operate ordering and tracking electronic devices. Proficient with Microsoft programs. Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Effective organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
