Position Summary:
The Shipping Manager will have full accountability for the Shipping operations of the location.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Manage shipment status to meet on-time and accurate delivery requirements. Maintain a positive working relationship with collective bargaining unit and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the labor contract. Manage shipping costs to maintain budgets. Schedule, assign and direct workforce. Train, monitor and evaluate workforce. Manage, train, and develop 4 direct report supervisors. Create a culture of safety and teamwork in the department. Ensure that employees are in compliance with all Safety rules and GMPs. Participate in and lead LEAN manufacturing activities as needed. Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system. Responsible for entering all data for related tracking programs. Processing of timecards for all shipping associates using the ADP System. Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring. Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits. Minimal travel required.
Education and Work History:
• Bachelor's degree in business or related field required. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted. Three years of shipping supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry. Working knowledge of computers, including MS office applications. SAP experience preferred. Management experience in a union environment preferred (if applicable). Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Excellent communication skills. Must be self-directed and able to work without close supervision - position requires high energy and motivation and a strong desire to drive positive change.
