Job Description

Overview The Distribution & Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouses, distribution, transportation, and logistics operations to ensure products are received, stored, and delivered accurately, safely, and on time. This role leads warehouse and logistics personnel, manages inventory flow, coordinates inbound and outbound freight, and drives continuous improvement across distribution operations. The ideal candidate combines hands-on operational leadership with strong planning, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration skills to support customer service and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Distribution & Warehouse Operations Oversee daily warehouse and distribution center operations including receiving, put-away, inventory storage, order picking, packing, and shipping. Ensure fulfillment accuracy, on-time shipments, and compliance with customer delivery requirements. Develop and oversee warehouse workflows, labor planning, and staffing schedules. Maintain warehouse organization, storage optimization, and efficient material flow. Monitor operational KPIs including order accuracy, fill rate, shipping timeliness, inventory turns, freight cost, and labor productivity. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, reduce costs, and increase service levels. Logistics & Transportation Management Manage inbound and outbound transportation across parcel, LTL, FTL, ocean freight, and other freight channels. Coordinate with carriers, freight brokers, and third-party logistics providers. Negotiate freight rates and service agreements where applicable. Monitor freight spend and identify cost-saving opportunities. Resolve shipping delays, routing issues, and service disruptions. Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, carrier requirements, and customer routing guides. Inventory Management Partner with purchasing, operations, and finance to maintain inventory accuracy and availability. Oversee cycle counts, physical inventory counts, reconciliation, and inventory control procedures. Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Monitor inventory movement, aging, and space utilization. Team Leadership Hire, train, coach, and develop warehouse and logistics team members. Establish performance expectations and conduct performance reviews. Promote accountability, teamwork, and a culture of operational excellence. Provide leadership during peak periods and operational challenges. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety procedures, and warehouse operating standards. Lead safety training and incident investigations. Maintain equipment and facility standards. Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with customer service, procurement, finance, and sales to support customer requirements and inventory planning. Communicate shipment status, service issues, and operational priorities. Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning related to logistics and distribution. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in distribution, warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain. 3+ years of people management experience preferred. Experience managing carrier relationships and freight operations. Experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.) preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong warehouse and logistics operational knowledge. Leadership and team development experience. Inventory control and warehouse management expertise. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience with KPI reporting and process improvement. Working knowledge of shipping compliance and safety requirements. Advanced Excel/reporting skills preferred. $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
