Job Description
The Delivery Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the shipment of pre‑engineered metal building components from multiple fabrication facilities to customer job sites. This role works closely with Production, Purchasing, Planning, Shipping, Inside Sales, and Field Sales to ensure building components are delivered accurately, safely, and in the proper sequence to support erection schedules and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Coordinate deliveries of fabricated PEMB components including primary frames, secondary framing, panels, trim, and accessories Schedule shipments based on scheduled fabrication completion dates, load readiness, job‑site sequencing, and erection schedules requested by our customers. Serve as the primary point of contact for delivery‑related communication with customers, suppliers, and internal team members Verify shipment accuracy, quantities, load configurations, and sequence requirements prior to release Track in‑transit shipments to ensure on‑time delivery and address delays, damages, or shortages promptly Coordinate partial, phased, or multiple shipments for large or complex building projects Collaborate with Production and Shipping to align fabrication priorities with delivery commitments Investigate delivery exceptions, transportation claims, and customer concerns, ensuring timely resolution Maintain accurate delivery records Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to freight efficiency, delivery accuracy, and customer satisfaction Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred 2+ years of experience in logistics, delivery coordination, manufacturing, or construction supply preferred Experience with metal building systems, construction materials, or oversized/flatbed shipments is a plus Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent communication, follow‑up, and customer service skills Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and shipment tracking systems Familiarity with freight carriers, DOT requirements, and flatbed shipping practices preferred Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Problem‑solving and decision‑making under schedule pressure Ability to coordinate across departments and prioritize changing delivery needs Professional communication with customers, carriers, plant leaders and job‑site personnel Ability to work independently while supporting team goals Work Environment Office-based role requiring frequent coordination with Plant Production, Shipping, and Sales teams. May require extended hours during peak production or critical project deliveries Limited warehouse or yard interaction to support load coordination
