Warehouse Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee daily operations across two freight and logistics facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient warehouse and transportation operations, maintaining compliance standards, managing staff performance, procurement activities, facility management, and driving operational excellence while delivering exceptional customer service. The Operations Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for facility safety inductions, operational compliance, and site coordination for employees, contractors, visitors, and customers.

Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day operations for two freight/warehouse locations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow. Manage warehouse, transportation, customer service, and facility operations while maintaining productivity and service standards. Supervise and develop operational staff, including warehouse personnel, supervisors, and administrative employees. Monitor staffing levels, scheduling, attendance, and overall employee performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, safety standards, and freight industry requirements. Act as the main point of contact for all safety inductions, site safety orientations, and operational safety procedures for employees, contractors, and visitors. Coordinate inbound and outbound freight activities, including receiving, shipping, inventory control, and carrier management. Oversee procurement activities for operational supplies, warehouse materials, office equipment, PPE, and facility-related needs. Manage facility operations and maintenance, including vendor coordination, repairs, office upkeep, warehouse organization, and operational readiness. Maintain accurate inventory records and operational reporting within WMS/TMS and company systems. Partner with customers and internal teams to resolve operational issues and maintain strong client relationships. Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. Monitor KPIs, operational metrics, and financial performance for both facilities. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives. Conduct regular site visits, operational audits, and team meetings to ensure consistency across locations. Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and disciplinary processes in partnership with HR. Ensure facilities maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional appearance at all times. Position requirements - experience, education and skills High school diploma or equivalent Three to five years of inventory/warehouse coordination in a transloading warehouse setting, and supervisory experience Experience handling metals, plywood/forest products, supersacks, coils, steel structures, solar panels, and other general cargo Experience operating industrial lift trucks up to 36K pound capacity and various cargo handling attachments and implements Working knowledge of vessel schedules and workload planning necessary to manage container free time, demurrage and per diem The ability to follow and provide instructions with emphasis on safety Demonstrated experience training employees, delegating work, labor planning and monitoring/addressing performance Critical thinking, with the ability to see "big picture" Strong work ethic, with a proven track record of dependability Solid decision-making, with the ability to support and execute Ability to manage conflict Capable of effectively leading and motivating a team and set positive examples Excellent organizational, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills Must be able to handle tight scheduling, fast-paced, high-volume levels of activity Must be able to prioritize, shift priorities and multi-task as needed Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, with the aptitude to quickly learn other systems/software Ability to read and write fluently, count accurately and perform basic math equations Flexibility and willingness to work weekends, overtime and second shift, when required Physical Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 5+ years of operations management experience within the freight forwarding, warehousing, transportation, or logistics industry. Experience managing multiple locations preferred. Strong knowledge of freight operations, inventory management, warehouse processes, procurement, and transportation coordination. Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, FTZ, and general compliance requirements preferred. Experience with WMS, TMS, ERP, or Oracle-based systems is a plus. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk warehouse floors and operational yards regularly. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to travel between locations as needed.
