Job Description:
This is a hybrid location with up to 50% onsite in San Francisco CA. The Logistics Automation Project Manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing automated logistics solutions within a manufacturing environment. This role leads projects from initial needs assessment through vendor selection, capital approval, installation, commissioning, and final handoff to production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in logistics operations and automation technologies, along with proven project management and cross-functional coordination skills. Key Responsibilities Lead the identification and evaluation of automation opportunities within plant logistics operations Conduct needs assessments and define project scope, objectives, and requirements Research and evaluate automation technologies and system solutions Develop business cases, cost analyses, and capital expenditure justifications Manage vendor sourcing, selection, negotiations, and contracting processes Coordinate project implementation, installation, and commissioning activities Ensure successful production handoff and operational readiness Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, logistics, procurement, and operations teams Monitor project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics automation and material flow efficiency Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, preferably within an automated manufacturing environment Experience managing automation or capital equipment implementation projects Strong understanding of manufacturing logistics and material flow processes Experience with vendor management and cross-functional project coordination Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and presentation abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience with AGVs/AMRs, automated storage systems, conveyor systems, or warehouse automation technologies Project management experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing environments Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies Experience preparing capital expenditure requests and ROI analyses
