Logistics Manager Location:
Hickman, CA Salary Range:
$79,000 - $95,000 a year Full-Time | Salaried Exempt About Us Frantz Wholesale Nursery, LLC is a leading grower of container-grown trees and shrubs. Operating from our farms in Hickman, CA, we supply landscapers, chain retailers, and independent garden centers with a diverse selection of trees, native grasses, fruit and citrus plants, roses, and groundcovers. With a team of nearly 400 employees, we are committed to delivering high-quality plant material while taking care of our employees, customers, and the communities we serve. Position Summary The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations and managing transportation equipment. This role ensures efficient coordination of drivers, routing, and deliveries while maintaining compliance and safety standards. This is a leadership role for a self-motivated individual with strong organizational and decision-making skills. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily workflow of the logistics department Recruit, interview, hire, train, and manage staff Conduct performance evaluations and handle employee discipline as needed Approve department labor timekeeping Coordinate and schedule drivers for pickups and deliveries Plan and monitor inbound and outbound shipments Select carriers and negotiate contracts and rates Develop efficient delivery routes and shipment plans Consolidate orders into optimal truckloads Track and coordinate movement of materials (bins, pallets, pots, racks, etc.) Maintain communication with drivers and respond to emergencies if needed Monitor weather and adjust routes to minimize delays Oversee vehicle maintenance and repair schedules Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations Manage department budget and control expenditures Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Strong knowledge of logistics and inventory management systems Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Leadership experience with the ability to manage teams effectively Knowledge of routing, mapping systems, and geographic areas Familiarity with dispatch and recordkeeping systems Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance/mechanics Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Thorough understanding of the shipping and transportation industry Self-motivated with strong decision-making ability Schedule & Work Environment Full-time, Monday through Friday Occasional weekend work required Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary: $79,000 - $95,000 annually Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance 401(k) plan Paid Vacation (after eligibility period) Additional Information This position and its responsibilities may be modified as business needs evolve.
