Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Logistics Supervisor to oversee third-party logistics operations within a fast-paced supply chain environment. In this role, you will lead and coordinate logistics activities with third-party logistics providers (3PL), , warehousing, and distribution processes. Your expertise will drive efficiency, optimize inventory management, and enhance overall supply chain performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage complex logistics functions, implement process improvements, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to meet organizational goals. Responsibilities Supervise daily logistics activities involving third-party providers, including transportation management, shipping & receiving, and warehouse distribution. Coordinate with 3PL vendors on freight scheduling, dispatching, and order fulfillment to ensure timely delivery and optimal service levels. Utilize supply chain management tools such as ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and transportation management systems (TMS) to monitor operations and analyze performance data. Conduct root cause analysis for logistical issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency. Manage inventory control and warehouse management system (WMS) data collection to maintain accurate stock levels and support demand planning. Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors and carriers to secure favorable terms while ensuring compliance with company policies. Lead category management initiatives by analyzing supply chain analytics, procurement data, and market trends to optimize sourcing strategies. Oversee safety protocols related to materials handling equipment such as forklifts and mechanical tools while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with procurement teams on sourcing strategies for materials and freight services to reduce costs and improve service quality. Prepare detailed reports on logistics performance metrics, profit & loss analysis, and supply chain KPIs for senior management review. Requirements Proven experience in logistics supervision within third-party logistics companies or supply chain environments involving NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), freight forwarding, or 3PL operations. Strong knowledge of warehouse experience including inventory management, warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving procedures, and warehouse management systems (WMS). Proficiency in supply chain analytics tools like Tableau and SQL for data analysis, collection, and reporting purposes. Familiarity with transportation planning, procurement processes, category management, demand planning, and freight negotiations. Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle ERP; knowledge of AS400 is a plus. Excellent analysis skills to identify root causes of logistical issues and implement effective solutions. Mechanical knowledge related to materials handling equipment such as forklifts is desirable. Strong negotiation skills coupled with vendor management experience to foster productive supplier relationships. Ability to develop process improvements that streamline operations while maintaining high safety standards. Effective communication skills for coordinating across multiple teams including procurement, warehouse staff, carriers, and senior leadership.
