Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Materials Manager for our growing electric utility manufacturing company. In this role you will need to be able to lead and innovate our materials management and supply chain operations. In this role, you will oversee planning and procurement, inventory control, logistics and distribution to ensure seamless production flow and optimal resource utilization. Your expertise will spur efficiency across manufacturing processes, enhance supplier relationships, and implement best practices in materials planning.   • Planning and Procurement :
  • Analyze demand, manage materials planning, & source/negotiate with vendors to acquire materials & components in a timely manner & forecast inventory needs
  • Coordinate with sales & engineering teams to manage project bill of materials for procurement activities & change orders
  • Analyze data to support decision making related to manufacturing scheduling, planning, purchasing & inventory levels
Inventory Control:
  • Maintain inventory levels to support production schedules while minimizing waste, carrying costs, & production schedule delays
  • Develop, implement, & maintain inventory control procedures to support production requirements & maintain accurate stock levels
  • Conduct regular audits to identify weaknesses & implement corrective actions
  • Create and administer an inventory system while maintaining 100% compliance.
Logistics and Distribution:
  • Oversee the purchasing, shipping, receiving (domestic & international logistics), storage & distribution of inventory including managing of physical inventory counts
  • Utilize inventory spreadsheets to track & manage inventory data
  • Conduct company-wide inventory control exercises
Supplier Management:
  • Manage & develop relationship with suppliers. Review & negotiate favorable contracts
  • Monitor purchase orders for conformance to company policy & project needs
  • Evaluate supplier performance, manage contacts to ensure quality & on-time supply
Process Improvement:
  • Conduct regular audits to identify weaknesses & implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory processes and minimize costs
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, train & supervise purchasing/warehouse staff to ensure personal growth & compliance with procedures

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned Qualifications
  • MUST have 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in
Microsoft Office:
Excel, Word
  • Proven experience in inventory control & management, quality control.
  • Proven project management, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to deadline amidst competing priorities
  • Well-developed leadership, interpersonal communication, & organizational skills
  • Experience with contract negotiation/management with global suppliers with a proven track record in cost reduction
  • Proficiency in using inventory management systems
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry &analysis
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
