The Logistics, Receiving, and Inventory Manager (LRI Manager) is responsible for general Logistics and Receiving Processing, and Inventory Management.This includes overseeing and optimizing the movement, distribution, and storage of steel studs and outsourced and inventory products. Additionally, the LRI manager is responsible for managing all shipping and receiving operations in the company. This primarily includes receiving Inbound Outsource, General Deliveries (Amazon, UPS, USPS, etc), and Freight (including Ecommerce Orders, handling Returns or Rejected Goods, and General Shipping) . The LRI manager will be responsible for developing the best practices and department culture. To ensure long-term success, the LRI Manager must be proactive to establish SOPs, hire and train effective personnel, and procure the best equipment and capital - ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of materials nationwide and abroad. This role collaborates closely with Procurement, Production, and Sales teams to align logistics operations with company goals and customer expectations. Day to day operations under the LRI Manager center around managing and fulfilling all inventory related orders, as well as monitoring inventory levels. As Production utilizes Made Inventory to complete an order, the LRI Manager is responsible for ensuring that the inventory is pulled and staged properly. If a job requires Outsource Inventory, they are also responsible for fulfilling that order. In addition, they must manage inventory levels, which includes requesting inventory to be made or purchased before needing it for an order. The LRI Manager must be detail oriented and have great organizational skills. They will build the systems USFF will rely on to effectively use inventory to boost productivity throughout the whole company. Key Responsibilities 1. Oversee shipping, receiving, and internal material flow operations Manage all general shipping and receiving activities including outbound customer loads, ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely movement of finished materials, coils for customers, and purchased goods into, through, and out of the facility. This includes mail, packages, and supplies ordered to facilitate the larger Company's needs. 2. Maintain organized, efficient shipping, receiving, and inventory areas Ensure shipping, receiving, staging, and inventory spaces are clean, structured, clearly labeled, and used effectively to support safe access, high storage utility, and efficient material flow. 3. Manage inventory levels and inventory accuracy across the operation Oversee all inventory categories, including raw materials, consumables, and support items, to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained based on production demand, order patterns, and operational needs. 4. Anticipate inventory needs and communicate shortages proactively Monitor inventory trends, identify shortages before they disrupt operations, and communicate material risks or replenishment needs to procurement and other affected departments, including critical support inventories such as banding wood. 5. Eliminate operational inefficiencies caused by poor material handling or inventory control Continuously improve receiving, storage, staging, inventory usage, and replenishment practices to reduce delays, prevent shortages, improve access to materials, and support uninterrupted production and logistics performance. 6. Coordinate cross-functionally with Procurement, Production, and Sales Maintain strong communication across departments to ensure timely delivery of materials, accurate job readiness, aligned priorities, and clear visibility into order status, inventory constraints, shipment timing, and customer needs. This includes proactive and reactive communication, meetings, and involvement to align on priorities. 7. Plan and manage outbound logistics execution Coordinate truck shipments, dispatch drivers, oversee staging, loading, strapping, labeling, and shipment documentation to ensure loads are accurate, efficient, compliant, cost effective, and delivered without avoidable issues. 8. Improve load efficiency, shipment scheduling, and transportation cost performance Optimize load planning, shipping methods, carrier selection, and logistics scheduling practices to improve profitability, maximize truck utilization, reduce freight cost, and maintain strong customer service. 9. Build and manage carrier and broker relationships Develop and maintain a reliable network of carriers and brokers, including onboarding, rate negotiation, lane knowledge, contact management, and ongoing performance evaluation to support efficient and cost-effective freight movement. 10. Ensure accuracy of logistics documentation and shipment records Audit, confirm, and correct bills of lading, shipment details, project updates, freight records, customer documentation, and related logistics data to ensure accuracy, proper billing, and strong internal visibility. Provide timely updates on shipment status, delivery timing, delays, outbound load photos, bills of lading, and other logistics-related information needed to meet customer expectations and support internal decision- making 11. Lead and Manage the Logistics, Receiving, and Inventory Team Effectively Manage working team members through Communication, Positive Confrontation, and Leadership. Supervise loaders, receivers, and material handlers; drive accountability, training, coaching, hiring, corrective action, and team development to maintain strong execution and alignment with company standards. 12. Maintain compliance with company policies, safety expectations, and applicable regulations (DOT, FMCSA, & OSHA) Ensure logistics, receiving, inventory, and transportation activities (Including internal shipments with USFF carriers) are carried out in compliance with company procedures, safety requirements, and all relevant legal and industry standards. Customer Service Orientation Focuses on meeting and exceeding customer expectations for delivery and service. 9. Adaptability Handles changing priorities, market conditions, and urgent logistical challenges. 10. Technical Proficiency Comfortable with logistics software, inventory management systems, and digital communication tools. 11. Cost-Consciousness Constantly seeks ways to reduce costs while maintaining high service levels. 12. Time Management Efficiently manages deadlines and schedules to ensure timely deliveries. 13. Industry Knowledge Understands transportation regulations, steel manufacturing processes, and best logistics practices. 14. Initiative Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost savings. 15. Relationship Building Develops strong, reliable partnerships with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders. 16. Dependability and Integrity Consistently reliable, ethical, and trustworthy in handling company assets, following procedures, and maintaining accurate records. 17. Good Faith Lead the team in good faith, acting with honesty, sincerity, and fair intentions to foster a productive and respectful work environment. Key examples involve transparency, consistency, and a genuine interest in the team's well-being and success. 18. Safety Ensure safe practices are being performed by the logistics team, leading by example and ensuring compliance with company and state and federal regulations. 19. Development Identify where the team is currently at in skillset, generating a development plan, and empowering and coaching each employee to reach their fullest potential. Communicate current and progressive feedback to management as the team is developing under your supervision. All supervisors and management should develop their team to 'build the bench', helping each other grow individually, as a team, and ultimately as a company.
