Our operation is fast-paced, hands-on, and highly service-oriented. We are looking for a strong operational leader who can help bring organization, accountability, and efficiency to our yard and logistics operations while thriving in an industry where priorities and schedules can change quickly. Position Overview The Yard, Operations, & Logistics Supervisor / Lead is responsible for overseeing daily yard operations, inventory control, dispatching, receiving, deliveries, equipment coordination, facility maintenance, and logistical flow throughout the company. This role serves as a critical connection between the yard, drivers, sales staff, vendors, customers, and operations leadership. The natural stone and building materials industry is dynamic and constantly changing. Deliveries shift, priorities evolve, customers need quick responses, and operational challenges arise daily. The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in this environment while remaining highly organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and consistent in following company processes and procedures. This position requires someone who can successfully manage people, schedules, inventory, equipment, customer communication, and operational workflow simultaneously while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and urgency. This is not a desk-only position. The successful candidate must be comfortable both managing systems and actively participating in yard and operational workflow. Responsibilities Inventory Management Receive and verify all incoming inventory against purchase orders and packing slips. Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and physical inventory. Create and maintain inventory item codes and specialty products within the ERP system. Monitor yard inventory organization, labeling, accessibility, and material condition. Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies, damages, shortages, or receiving issues promptly. Maintain organized photographic documentation of inbound and outbound materials. Yard & Warehouse Operations Supervise daily yard workflow including receiving, staging, loading, unloading, and customer pickups. Lead and support yard staff while maintaining accountability, productivity, and safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional yard and warehouse environment. Ensure proper material handling, stacking, storage, and loading procedures. Assist operationally in the yard as needed to support workflow and customer service. Oversee overall yard cleanliness and organization. Logistics & Dispatching Coordinate daily delivery schedules, freight coordination, customer pickups, and inbound shipments. Dispatch drivers and manage routes, scheduling priorities, and logistical changes throughout the day. Plan efficient delivery routing while balancing customer expectations, timing, and operational capacity. Create and manage purchase orders related to inventory replenishment and customer projects. Track vendor orders, incoming freight, and delivery timelines. Print and distribute pick lists, delivery paperwork, and shipping documentation accurately. Oversee order staging and verify materials before shipment or pickup. Expedite and troubleshoot logistical issues proactively to keep operations moving efficiently. Equipment & Fleet Management Oversee company trucks, trailers, forklifts, Moffetts, tractors, and yard equipment. Coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, registrations, and service scheduling. Monitor equipment condition and address maintenance or safety concerns proactively. Maintain service and maintenance records for company equipment and vehicles. Facility Maintenance & Operational Oversight Help oversee facility appearance, organization, maintenance, and operational functionality. Coordinate general building and yard maintenance including storage organization, lighting, snow removal, and minor repairs. Ensure the facility presents a professional appearance to customers, vendors, and employees. Identify operational improvements that increase efficiency, organization, and safety. Customer Communication & Coordination Communicate directly with customers regarding deliveries, scheduling updates, order status, and jobsite coordination. Serve as a communication link between yard operations, drivers, sales staff, vendors, customers, and management. Handle customer concerns and logistical issues professionally and proactively. Maintain strong communication and follow-through regarding operational changes, backorders, delivery timing, and inventory availability. Estimating & Project Support Assist with estimating, material takeoffs, and project coordination as needed. Support sales and operations teams with project logistics, scheduling, and material planning. Review project details carefully to ensure operational accuracy and execution. Qualifications Experience in logistics, dispatching, warehouse operations, construction supply, natural stone, or building materials preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to adapt quickly and manage changing priorities throughout the day. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with inventory systems, ERP software, or QuickBooks preferred. Forklift, Moffett, or equipment experience preferred. Comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with hands-on operational work. Self-motivated, dependable, and solutions-oriented mindset.
