Job Description

The Materials Manager is responsible for planning, procuring, storing, and delivering materials to support uninterrupted automotive manufacturing operations. This role leads the materials planning, inventory control, logistics, and shipping/receiving functions to ensure on-time customer delivery, cost control, and compliance with IATF 16949, customer requirements, and internal production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Exercise material management/supervision and assume responsibility for the effective administration of the materials Dept., working with all personnel in accomplishing plant objectives.
  • Lead and develop materials, planning, and warehouse teams.
  • Support plant activities toward achieving customer awards and Quality registration (i.e., IATF16949, etc.).
  • Interface with customers, contractors, and suppliers as appropriate.
  • Accept the responsibility of being a channel of communication between employees and management, responding to questions, concerns and needs of all Employees'.
  • Fulfill responsibility as active management team member committed to continually contributing ideas, suggestions and input/comments for improvement of plant operations.
  • Administer management activities in accordance with plant and company policies, enforcing said policies established.
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring and recommend terminating said reporting personnel.
  • Verify/Approve hours worked by reporting personnel (overtime, vacation, excused and unexcused absences) with goal to meet or outperform budget.
  • Maintain/Schedule for performance appraisals, evaluations, progress reviews, position changes and wage increases/decreases for reporting and shipping personnel.
  • Schedule and assign personnel to specific tasks and projects.
  • Assist in providing personnel with opportunities to further their education and training through seminars, classes, meetings and conferences.
  • Coordinate traffic flow between Warehouse, Production and Shipping/Receiving.
  • Schedule out planning for all service parts ten (10) weeks in advance of due date.
  • Act as back up Product Logistics and Shipping Clerk in their absence - in emergency situations only.
  • Get customer approval to scrap or remove tools no longer in production and get one time buy when possible.
  • Maintain returnable storage area and prepare for Missouri winters by October 15th each year.
  • Complete monthly reports for month end and required items in Parts +/.
  • Oversees Material Analyst verifying cycle counts on build outs-cycle counts will be done weekly in the last eight (8) weeks of production. (Avoid obsolescence).
  • Research and actively seek direction from Corporate for raw materials, components and packaging for plant utilization for cost efficiency, implement same.
  • Determine the plant requirements for raw materials, components, packaging and meet Customer Demands along with maintaining agreed inventory levels. Not to exceed budget amount.
  • Responsible for all subcontractors and inter-company personnel working in materials area.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of materials or supply chain leadership experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership abilities.

Pay:
$120,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
