Director of Supply Chain-West Michigan Lead Supply Chain Strategy and Operational Excellence in a Complex Manufacturing Environment Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Supply Chain to lead the end-to-end supply chain function for a large-scale U.S. manufacturing operation. This executive leadership role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and reliable flow of materials, components, and finished products throughout the manufacturing and distribution network. The Director of Supply Chain will play a critical role in shaping supply chain strategy, driving continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing inventory and logistics performance, and strengthening supplier and distribution partnerships. This leader will work closely with cross-functional teams to align supply chain capabilities with business objectives while supporting growth initiatives, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in manufacturing supply chains, distribution network optimization, lean operations, and organizational leadership. They possess a proven history of improving service levels, reducing costs, enhancing inventory performance, and leading transformational change within complex manufacturing environments. Responsibilities Develop and execute comprehensive supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives and operational goals. Lead forecasting, demand planning, production planning, scheduling, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and customer fulfillment activities. Design, optimize, and continuously improve distribution and logistics networks to enhance customer service, efficiency, and scalability. Drive inventory optimization initiatives across raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods while maintaining exceptional service levels and operational continuity. Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align supply, demand, and production strategies across the organization. Build strong partnerships with suppliers, logistics providers, distribution partners, and internal stakeholders to improve responsiveness, transparency, and performance. Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and operational efficiency throughout the supply chain. Leverage ERP, MRP, planning systems, and analytics tools to improve visibility, forecasting accuracy, reporting capabilities, and decision-making. Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Sales, Finance, and Product Development teams to support business growth, capacity planning, and new product introductions. Lead supplier performance management initiatives focused on quality, delivery, reliability, and strategic sourcing. Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies throughout the supply chain organization. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, quality, regulatory, and industry requirements. Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing supply chain team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Lead large-scale transformation initiatives, including process improvements, system implementations, network optimization, and organizational development efforts. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience within a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level supply chain leadership role. Proven experience leading end-to-end supply chain operations, including planning, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution. Strong background in manufacturing industries such as durable goods, industrial products, appliances, HVAC, metals, or related sectors. Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and optimizing multi-site distribution and logistics networks. Extensive experience driving measurable improvements in inventory performance, operational efficiency, supplier performance, and supply chain costs. Deep understanding of Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and supply chain analytics. Experience utilizing ERP and MRP systems to support planning, reporting, and operational decision-making. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to lead organizational change and transformation initiatives across complex manufacturing environments. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Preferred Qualifications MBA or advanced degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline. APICS certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, or other relevant supply chain credentials. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies. Background supporting new product introductions and product lifecycle management initiatives. Experience leading ERP implementations, advanced planning system deployments, or digital supply chain transformation programs. Expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and global supply chain management. Experience building mature S&OP processes and driving organizational alignment through integrated business planning. Knowledge of regulatory and quality standards commonly associated with manufacturing operations.
