Job Description

Position Summary The Logistics Manager is responsible for coordinating daily freight, scheduling shipments, communicating with customers and carriers, and helping ensure products are delivered accurately and on time. In addition to daily logistics duties, this position will support business growth by improving customer service, developing carrier relationships, identifying freight efficiencies, and assisting with expanding sales opportunities through dependable delivery performance. Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate outbound and inbound shipments.
  • Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules, order status, and shipping needs.
  • Work with trucking companies, drivers, dispatchers, and freight brokers to secure transportation.
  • Prepare and maintain bills of lading, delivery tickets, freight records, and shipping documents.
  • Track shipments and help resolve delays, missed pickups, delivery issues, or customer concerns.
  • Coordinate with production, inventory, sales, and shipping personnel to ensure orders are filled and shipped on time.
  • Help organize daily loading schedules and prioritize shipments based on customer needs.
  • Verify shipment details, including customer information, product, quantity, destination, and carrier.
  • Assist with freight quotes, rate checks, delivery estimates, and carrier communication.
  • Maintain records of freight costs, shipment activity, delivery confirmations, and claims.
  • Support safe and efficient loading and shipping procedures. Business Growth Responsibilities
  • Help develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, brokers, and freight partners.
  • Look for opportunities to improve delivery service, reduce freight problems, and strengthen customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate customer needs, delivery concerns, and service opportunities to management and sales.
  • Assist in identifying new freight options, carrier relationships, and shipping lanes that support business expansion.
  • Help improve logistics processes so the company can handle increased sales volume efficiently.
  • Support sales growth by helping ensure dependable service, accurate shipments, and timely deliveries.
  • Assist with follow-up on customer shipping issues to help retain and grow business.
  • Monitor freight trends, delivery challenges, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Help develop better reporting on freight activity, customer shipments, and carrier performance.
  • Represent the company professionally when communicating with customers, drivers, and freight partners. Required Qualifications
  • Experience in logistics, shipping, dispatch, and transportation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments, customers, and priorities at the same time.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, and order or shipping systems.
  • Ability to work well with customers, drivers, carriers, plant employees, sales, and management.
  • Dependable, professional, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in lumber, manufacturing, warehousing, trucking, building materials, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with bills of lading, flatbed freight, truckload shipping, freight brokers, and carrier scheduling.
  • Prior experience supporting customer growth, sales coordination, or business development.
  • Knowledge of freight rates, shipping lanes, and delivery planning. Physical and Work Requirements
  • Primarily office-based work with regular communication by phone, email, and in person.
  • May require walking through shipping, warehouse, yard, or production areas.
  • Must be able to work around trucks, forklifts, loading areas, and industrial operations as needed.
  • Must be able to work under daily shipping deadlines and handle changing priorities.
Pay:
$45,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
