Position Summary:
Logistics and Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all transportation, delivery, and logistics operations, including order fulfillment, routing, inventory movement, and employee supervision. This role ensures timely and efficient delivery to customers, adherence to compliance and safety standards, cost-effective labor and equipment utilization, and exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations & Logistics Management:
Oversee all day-to-day transportation and logistics functions including routing, vehicle maintenance coordination, product loading/unloading, and delivery timing. Develop schedules and workflows to control labor costs, reduce overtime, and meet customer expectations and KPIs. Manage inventory movement and ensure order accuracy across all stages of delivery and return processes. Serve as backup coverage for delivery routes as needed. May be required to operate company vehicles and complete deliveries in the absence of available drivers. Must maintain readiness and compliance with all DOT and company vehicle operation requirements.
Staff Supervision & Development:
Lead and manage transportation and service staff including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplinary action. Ensure all new hires are properly oriented and trained on safety protocols and workflow procedures. Conduct performance evaluations and resolve employee concerns in coordination with HR.
Customer Service & Communication:
Ensure excellent service by responding promptly to customer inquiries and addressing concerns. Coordinate closely with Production and Service teams to ensure delivery alignment with operational timelines. Manage communication regarding delivery delays, route changes, or service issues.
Compliance & Safety:
Enforce adherence to DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety policies. Investigate and report incidents affecting safety, quality, or productivity and implement corrective actions. Prevent accidents by ensuring safe practices and procedures are followed at all times.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records, including delivery receipts, logs, trip sheets, inventory records, and performance data. Monitor vehicle and equipment functionality and coordinate timely service with vendors.
Process Improvement:
Use critical thinking to identify and implement logistics and delivery process improvements. Lead efforts to optimize route planning and reduce waste while enhancing productivity and service levels.
Qualifications & Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred. Minimum 3 years of transportation/logistics management experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with order management systems (e.g., Linen Master). Valid driver's license; must meet DOT requirements. Forklift and pallet jack certification required. Bilingual capabilities a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Must be able to maneuver in a production/warehouse setting with hot or cold conditions and noise exposure. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs regularly; up to 75 lbs occasionally. Must have manual dexterity to operate standard office/production equipment. Ability to safely back up and operate delivery vehicles and equipment such as lift gates.
Safety Expectations:
Actively participate in company health and safety programs and comply with OSHA regulations. Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Immediately report unsafe conditions or injuries to management.
