Job Description

Crouse Health offers a full range of general and specialty care, inpatient and outpatient services, as well as community health education and outreach programs. Crouse's Material Management team is hiring a Supervisor to ensure that all inventory and necessary equipment is provided to our healthcare providers. The Supervisor for Materials Management works under the supervision of the Manager and the Director in order to provide the support needed for the team and other departments.
Pay Range:
starting at $70,000 plus, based on experience and education Available Schedule(s): Full-time, 10:00pm-6:30am, 11:00pm-7:30am
Sunday-Thursday Supervisor Responsibilities:
Performs staff management functions related to employee selection, on-boarding/orientation, coaching/development, staffing, work assignments, performance management and goal alignment as guided by hospital policy and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreement (when applicable). Participates, collaborates and actively engages in meetings to achieve goals and mutually beneficial outcomes. Maintains thorough knowledge of, and enforces all procedures, routines and practices in the department. Assigns tasks to subordinate personnel on a daily basis, identifying priorities based on the immediate needs of the area and readjusts these assignments to meet unexpected demands; guides, advises and observes technicians as needed in order to complete these assignments. Authorizes and arranges transactions with other departments or hospitals, as required.
Oversees special projects:
implements revisions of instrument trays, carts, preventive maintenance programs and departmental procedures. Collects and compiles records and/or statistical data reflective of workloads, equipment usage, etc. compares this data to hours worked for staffing and productivity purposes. Controls the inventory of supplies needed and recommends items for re-order at appropriate times; encourages the efficient use of supplies and equipment, reducing costs if at all possible. Routinely makes rounds on the clinical areas noting stock levels, expiration dates, etc., and evaluates the service provided to the area by Materials Management / Sterile Reprocessing department personnel. Submits recommendations for the department budget, specifically personnel and equipment requirements; establishes goals and objectives for his/her area. Ensures proper use of departmental and patient-care equipment, maximizing safety; ensures the proper maintenance of this equipment. Assumes responsibility of the entire department over weekends and on holidays, maintaining an "on-call" status, as scheduled. Performs in the role of technician if necessary. Assumes other duties as assigned by department leadership.
Supervisor Requirements:
Associates Degree in a medical or business field 2 years as a Central Service technician with some exposure to all areas of the department. Experience with inventory management to include conducting physical inventories annual, special, and cycle. Certification as Sterile Processing/Distribution Technician or Materials Management is required at time of hire or within one (1) year of the hire date. Certification with the certifying agency must be maintained throughout their employment at Crouse Hospital, re-certifying as required and in accordance with the certifying agency guidelines.
