GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Materials Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for production and material planning, scheduling, purchasing, shipping/receiving, material handling, and warehousing activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure timely, accurate shipment and receipt of customer or supplier product Provide oversight for transportation scheduling, shipping and receiving, managing delivery windows and dock usage, freight charges, expedited shipments and all logistics activities related to moving material, equipment and tools Manage daily Customer Performance and Scorecards Ensure Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs) and other OEM data are transmitted accurately and in a timely fashion Ensure OEM systems are reviewed and updated per specified requirements Analyze and follow up on issues reported by supplier delivery ratings Lead problem solving and root cause analysis related to Delivery Performance and Inventory Management Complete the MMOG deliverable annually for all OEMS that require it Responsible for effective inventory management Ensure the department employs good organization and housekeeping practices in plant warehousing areas, outside storage locations and/or offsite warehouses Employ cycle count programs to identify and reconcile inventory inaccuracies with the objective of eliminating the need for month end inventory counts Ensure inventory accuracy and inventory turn targets are met. Ensure FIFO material usage principles are followed Conduct physical inventories annually or as needed Manage purchasing functions Provide leadership and direction for purchasing activities Monitor supplier performance regarding specifications, delivery, service and cost Review supplier capacity planning to ensure capacity requirements are satisfied based on sales forecasts Responsible for production and materials planning activities for regular, service, and trial part production, as well as subcontracted production requirements Ensure development of production and material schedules to meet customer requirements while minimizing inventory investment and maximizing production efficiencies Support planning and scheduling activities for subcontracted production Responsible for Material Handling activities for production, receiving and shipping Employ and maintain system applications with the support of IT Services to include: Inventory, Customer Order Entry, Production Scheduling and Job Order applications and shipping, barcode labels, and shipment verification programs Lead, coach and motivate a team of direct reports to achieve departmental objectives Participate in screening, interviewing, and making hiring decisions to fill open positions Assess training needs, develop key procedures and work instructions to standardize activities performed by teammates Establish team goals, monitor results and recognize individual and team efforts Set work schedules to meet customer requirements and manage team member attendance Provide performance feedback, enforce company policies and address noncompliance issues Establish safety requirements for lift truck drivers and in the warehouse Leads and meets the requirements for Materials and Logistics outlined in the
IATF 16949
standard Actively support the
ISO 14001
environmental program, acting as lead for assigned HSE elements and ensuring adherence to standards Identify opportunities and participate in continuous improvement activities
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

BS in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration and/or related discipline. 5-10 years Materials Management experience Automotive Tier One experience required Minimum 2 years purchasing experience Knowledgeable in
IATF 16949 3-5
years experience with ERP and EDI systems OEM experience and OEM Portal Management Familiarity with Plex ERP system preferred Direct supervisory experience Lean manufacturing experience a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to communicate well in both written and spoken English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to use basic math skills for calculations and problem solving.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, email or diagram form.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • No certifications required; however preference may be given to an individual with a certification.

Pay:
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
