Parts Manager / Inventory Manager Position Summary The Parts Manager / Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing inventory control, parts procurement, warehouse operations, and material availability for a truck manufacturing and fabrication company. This position ensures all production, fabrication, maintenance, and service departments have the necessary parts and materials to support efficient operations and minimize downtime. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience with inventory systems, and knowledge of truck components, fabrication materials, and warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Inventory Management Maintain accurate inventory levels for truck parts, fabrication materials, shop supplies, and production components. Monitor inventory usage and establish reorder points to prevent shortages or excess inventory. Conduct routine cycle counts and annual physical inventories. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Maintain organized warehouse and storage areas for efficient material flow. Purchasing & Procurement Order parts, materials, and supplies based on production schedules and operational needs. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries. Compare pricing and negotiate cost-effective purchasing agreements. Track purchase orders, backorders, and incoming shipments. Process warranty claims and return authorizations as needed. Production & Shop Support Coordinate with fabrication, production, service, and maintenance teams to ensure parts availability. Pull and stage materials for manufacturing jobs and truck builds. Support custom fabrication projects by sourcing specialty components and materials. Maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and parts records. Warehouse Operations Supervise receiving, stocking, labeling, and distribution of parts and materials. Ensure proper storage procedures and material handling practices. Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely. Maintain cleanliness and organization of inventory areas. Systems & Reporting Utilize inventory management, ERP, or MRP software to track inventory and purchasing activity. Generate inventory, purchasing, and usage reports. Analyze inventory trends and recommend process improvements and cost-saving measures. Maintain accurate documentation for receipts, transfers, and inventory adjustments. Safety & Compliance Follow company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Ensure safe handling and storage of materials, tools, and hazardous products. Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or business training preferred. 3+ years of inventory, parts, warehouse, or purchasing experience in manufacturing, trucking, fabrication, or heavy equipment industries. Strong understanding of truck parts, fabrication materials, hydraulics, and mechanical systems. Experience with inventory software, ERP, or MRP systems. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Forklift certification preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in warehouse/shop environments. Comfortable working around industrial equipment and manufacturing operations. Preferred Skills Experience in truck manufacturing or custom fabrication operations. Knowledge of welding materials, steel inventory, and fabrication processes. Strong problem-solving and inventory analysis skills. Lean manufacturing or warehouse optimization experience.
