In this vital role, you will oversee all aspects of freight movement, carrier relationships, and transportation planning to ensure efficient, cost-effective delivery processes. Your leadership will drive process improvements, enhance vendor management, and support our commitment to reliable service and operational excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the entire logistics network while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment dedicated to continuous growth. Duties Manage and coordinate transportation activities across multiple channels, including freight forwarding, shipping & receiving, and distribution centers. Develop and implement transportation strategies utilizing Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle to streamline operations. Oversee procurement and sourcing of transportation services, negotiating contracts with carriers, 3PL providers, NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers), and vendors to secure optimal pricing and service levels. Lead category management initiatives by analyzing freight costs, demand planning data, and inventory control metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities. Conduct root cause analysis on delivery delays or supply chain disruptions; implement process improvements using data analysis skills and supply chain analytics. Monitor warehouse distribution activities including materials handling, inventory management, stocking procedures, and warehouse management system (WMS) operations. Coordinate with procurement teams for purchasing decisions related to transportation equipment such as forklifts or mechanical tools; ensure compliance with safety standards. Optimize transportation planning by analyzing shipping schedules, freight routes, and demand forecasts; utilize SQL and data collection techniques for insightful decision-making. Manage vendor relationships through effective supplier management practices; oversee contract negotiations and performance evaluations. Support freight forwarding activities involving international shipping logistics such as NVOCC operations; ensure compliance with customs regulations. Oversee order fulfillment processes ensuring timely dispatching and accurate shipping & receiving procedures aligned with ERP systems like AS400 or similar platforms. Lead efforts in process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing costs, enhancing efficiency, and improving overall supply chain performance. Experience Proven experience in transportation management within a supply chain or logistics environment; familiarity with warehouse distribution is essential. Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle), and AS400 systems. Demonstrated ability in procurement, sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management—especially within freight or 3PL contexts. Skilled in data analysis tools such as Tableau or SQL for collecting insights on freight costs, inventory levels, demand planning, and process optimization. Experience with materials handling equipment like forklifts; mechanical knowledge is a plus for understanding equipment maintenance needs. Expertise in categories such as supply chain analytics, production planning (MRP), shipping & receiving procedures, and inventory control practices. Strong analytical skills combined with problem-solving capabilities including root cause analysis to address supply chain disruptions effectively. Excellent communication skills for collaborating across departments including procurement, warehouse teams, carriers, and vendors.
