Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all transportation operations across the Americas Participate in executive level strategies for logistics cost reduction strategies and mode optimization Benchmark modes using freight market platforms (Chainalytics, Xeneta, etc.) to ensure competitive rates. Use industry publications, forums, etc., to keep Tenneco up to date on emerging issues and opportunities in freight market. Serve as the global leader of the Transportation Management System (TMS) Schedule and conduct periodic business reviews with primary freight suppliers for each region. Schedule and conduct periodic business/freight market reviews with Business Unit stakeholders. Negotiate freight rates, Conduct RFQs based on contract terms and market conditions. Source freight suppliers for new lanes between RFQ activities where needed by Transportation Operations team. Adhere to supply chain security best practices and protect business from vulnerabilities Assist in carbon footprint reduction efforts to reduce Green House Gasses through upstream and downstream transportation Work with carriers and Tenneco's legal team to establish and maintain service contracts. Communicate necessary commercial agreements to 3rd party freight audit/payment companies and facilities. Maintain commercial projects in Wave to show status of savings. Manage suppliers (carriers) in Tenneco's vendor management systems. Support budget preparation and monitoring for transportation spend.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Logistics / Transportation / Business / Materials Engineering (MBA preferred)
Experience:
Minimum 10+ years of experience in Logistics / Procurement / Materials Engineering or other similar areas, preferably within high-volume manufacturing industries
Skills:
Solid prior experience and strong, high-level skills in supplier negotiation and materials/product management Demonstrate expertise in logistics data modeling Demonstrate understanding of LTL Freight Class structure Previous history working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Good command of
Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP Excellent English language skills; knowledge of a second foreign language is an advantage Familiarity with ocean pricing / rate structures and the various components of ocean rates Understanding of shipping incoterms and how the terms differ and how they are used Understanding of global port operations, US rail infrastructure and port terminal operations An Equal Opportunity Employer.
