Responsibilities:
Evaluate supply chain development processes for the mechanical components of 'Digit' robot; Work with suppliers, focusing on machine parts, plastics, metals, moldings, and will lead complex negotiations with these suppliers; Own the procurement and commodity sourcing for the mechanical team; Collect data on processes and production and will analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement; Design processes and systems and work with the internal team on new product introduction (NPI) from build to delivery; Identify processes to improve productivity and quality and maximize efficiency and space.Requires:
MS degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related fields and 6 years of progressively responsible relevant experience. Must also have at least 1 year of prior work experience in each of the following: 1. Lead time reduction from prototype stage to production stage against the KPI targets. 2. Initiating strategic sourcing activities for over new mechanical parts, involving activities like DFM checks, BOM, supplier selection, costing and negotiation with suppliers, prototype manufacturing, and shifting from prototype to production stage with PPAP. 3. Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers. 4. Creating a database of monthly spending that identifies cost reduction projects such as strategic resourcing, volume discount proposals, reverse auction, risk detection, and risk mitigation. 5. Train and guide Global Supply Managers to develop an understanding of cost-competing technologies, processes, and products to guide and influence product development Telecommuting is available for this position. 25% travel and int'l travel required for this position, fully reimbursed by employer. $215,000- $235,000 / yr.
