JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Purpose:
Supervise parts personnel and oversee and coordinate all functions of the parts department, maintain inventory records, pass out all parts and major tools to the mechanics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities and Duties Maintain parts and supplies on hand to ensure minimum vehicle downtime and vehicle safety. Maintain computer records and files to track parts inventory for the maintenance and repair of vehicles. Order replacements for worn or broken tools. Order, receive, store, and distribute parts and supplies. Process repair tickets daily and enter information into the computer daily. Complete physical inventory annually. Load and unload cameras in buses. Responsible for the safe handling of all chemicals in accordance with guidelines provided by the appropriate material data sheets. Maintain material storage area in a neat and orderly manner. Maintain record to accurately track usage of all parts and supplies. Maintain up-to-date inventory of tools purchased by Transportation Department. Provide minimum and maximum stock levels to conform to actual need. Assume responsibility for obtaining the highest quality goods at the most advantageous price based on cost/benefit analysis. Correct unsafe conditions that may exist in the work area that could cause an accident. Any conditions that are not correctable by you are to be reported to the supervisor immediately. Know and practice the proper safety procedures in operating machinery and equipment as required for the job. Know and practice safety techniques in lifting, climbing and performing other job duties. Attendance at work is an essential function. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Valid Texas driver's license/commercial driver's license or eligible to obtain a commercial driver's license Have an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas Department of Public Safety Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to read and understand instructions for transportation and safety procedures Proficiency in typing, word processing and data entry Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and databases Knowledge of vehicle parts, supplies and inventory control Knowledge of computerized stocking and reordering inventory systems

Heavy lifting and carrying (90 pounds and over), pushing, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, repeated bending, climbing, operation of motor vehicle, specific visual requirements, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, specific hearing requirements. Outside and inside; excessive heat, cold and/or humidity; excessive dampness or chilling, excessive noise (intermittent), constant noise, dust; fumes, smoke or gases; solvents (degreasing agents), grease and oils, electrical energy, works around machinery with moving parts, works around moving objects or vehicles, unusual fatigue factors , working with hands in water.
