Position Summary The Materials Manager will lead day-to-day kit room and dock operations—full responsibility for the kit room, receiving dock, shipping dock, and all material handling to ensure safe, accurate, and timely material flow to production. Drive performance in dock-to-stock, pick/kit accuracy, inventory accuracy, on-time shipment (OTD), and freight execution through strong leadership and continuous improvement using Lean/5S, standard work, and visual management. As a leader in this critical role, you will manage the internal logistics engine of the plant: inbound receiving, kit room organization, kitting to production, internal material management, finished goods staging, packing, and shipping documentation. You will supervise material handlers and coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering to prevent disruptions, maintain inventory integrity, and meet shipment commitments. This is a hands-on role with clear accountability for safety, accuracy, standard work, and results. Responsibilities Lead daily operations for the kit room, receiving dock, shipping dock, and material handling team (assignment, pacing, coaching, and coverage) Ensure safe work execution across docks and the kit room Manage inbound receiving: verify counts/condition, process receipts, coordinate inspection holds as needed, and drive dock-to-stock performance Own kit room organization: location accuracy, slotting/space utilization, labeling, and material identification/traceability Execute and improve kitting to production: kit build accuracy, shortages management, priority changes, and timely delivery to point-of-use Manage finished goods staging, packing, and shipping: packaging compliance, labeling, documentation (BOL/packing lists), and shipment verification Coordinate freight and courier execution: carrier scheduling, dock appointments, LTL/parcel processing, freight claims/damage follow-up, and cost awareness Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined transactions, cycle counting, reconciliation, and root-cause corrective actions for variances Create and sustain SOPs, standard work, and training for receiving, kitting, picking, packing, and shipping; ensure new-hire and refresher training Monitor daily performance using visual boards and routines; drive problem-solving with Production/Planning for shortages, expedites, and schedule changes Coordinate with Purchasing/Supplier Quality as needed to resolve receiving discrepancies (quantity, damage, paperwork, nonconforming material) and prevent recurrence Support continuous improvement using Lean/5

aisle discipline, shadow boards, staging rules, ergonomic improvements, and waste reduction Qualifications Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field 5+ years of experience in warehouse/kit room operations, materials management, and/or internal logistics in a high-volume manufacturing environment 3+ years of direct leadership experience Strong working knowledge of ERP transactions (receiving, transfers, picking/kitting, cycle counts, shipping confirmation) and inventory controls Demonstrated results improving inventory accuracy, pick/kit accuracy, and dock/warehouse throughput using metrics and standard work Solid understanding of shipping processes (documentation, packaging/labeling, carrier coordination, basic freight modes: parcel/LTL/FTL) Proven ability to lead safely in an industrial environment; familiarity with OSHA expectations and safe material handling practices Strong communication and coordination skills across Production, Planning, Purchasing, and Quality; calm execution under changing priorities Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook) and comfort using operational dashboards and reports Preferred Qualifications Experience implementing or sustaining Lean/5S, Kanban/two-bin replenishment, or PFEP elements within warehouse/material flow
APICS/ASCM
