Job Description

Job Overview Henry Repeating Arms is seeking a results-driven Materials Manager to lead internal materials management, purchase order execution, inventory control, and ERP data integrity across multiple manufacturing plants. This role is responsible for ensuring materials are available to support production at every site, maintaining optimal inventory levels across the network, and preventing material shortages through disciplined planning, purchase order execution, and internal materials flow. The Materials Manager owns the internal side of the materials function — from purchase order placement through receiving to point-of-use — and is accountable for inventory accuracy and master data integrity for all purchased items across all plants. Responsibilities Ensure materials are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the right location to support production schedules at all plants. Proactively identify and prevent material shortages across the network through disciplined planning execution, internal coordination, and early escalation to the Purchasing Manager when supplier action is required. Oversee receiving, stockroom, and warehouse operations across all sites to ensure timely put-away, accurate storage, and efficient material delivery to the production floor. Drive continuous improvement in internal materials processes across the network, including kanban, min/max, point-of-use stocking, and material presentation to the line. Establish standard work and best practices across plants to drive consistency in materials handling, planning, and execution. Maintain and publish the daily shortage list across the network and lead internal recovery actions. Coordinate inter-plant transfers and ensure materials are deployed where they are needed most. Own timely placement, confirmation, and management of purchase orders across all plants in line with MRP signals and production needs. Ensure buyers execute against MRP action messages with discipline, including reschedules, cancellations, and order release. Maintain accurate inventory levels across the network and drive improvements in inventory turns and working capital. Own inventory accuracy at every site through cycle counting, transaction discipline, and process controls. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for inventory discrepancies, transaction errors, and shrinkage across all plants.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience. 5-7+ years of progressive experience in materials management, planning, purchasing operations, or inventory control in a discrete manufacturing environment, with multi-site experience strongly preferred. Proven leadership experience managing buyers or materials/inventory teams, ideally across multiple locations. Strong ERP experience (Infor CSI / SyteLine or similar preferred), with hands-on understanding of MRP, PO management, item master setup, and planning parameters. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting, and tracking). Experience working with machined components, metals, or outside processing preferred. Experience in firearms, defense, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus but not required. Strong understanding of MRP, PO execution, planning, and plant materials flow. Working knowledge of inventory control practices, cycle counting, and warehouse/stockroom operations. Strong attention to detail and discipline around master data, PO data, and transaction accuracy. Pay is based on experience and qualifications. Henry Repeating Arms is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
