Job Description

Rogers Cartage Company is looking for a Driver Manager at our Calera, AL terminal. The Driver Manager (DM) is a frontline operations leader responsible for supervising and developing a group of professional drivers while ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient transportation operations. Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the DM assigns drivers, tractors, and trailers to loads and serves as the primary liaison between drivers, terminal leadership, and where applicable Customer Care. This role requires strong operational oversight, sound judgment, and the ability to build professional relationships rooted in accountability, consistency, and respect. The Driver Manager is accountable for driver performance, service execution, operational accuracy, and retention.
JOB DUTIES
: Assigning drivers, tractors, and trailers to loads to support operational objectives Reviewing and validating trip plans to ensure feasibility, compliance, and driver understanding Confirming load assignments and dispatch expectations with drivers prior to execution Projecting and monitoring Hours of Service (HOS) to ensure safe and legal operations. Executing proactive load tracking and communicating service delays or disruptions to Customer Care in real time Managing all driver communications, including breakdowns, delays, and operational concerns, and escalating issues when appropriate Ensuring accurate, timely entry of driver status updates, time off, compliance requirements (DOT physicals, CDL renewals, drug screens), and arrival data within company systems Supporting fuel performance initiatives in coordination with terminal leadership Reporting and documenting driver behavior/performance errors, policy/procedure violations Reporting significant driver issues to the Terminal Manager Leading drivers to operate safely, legally, and in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements Maintaining accurate and complete operational data; deficiencies in reporting are unacceptable Other duties as determined by Terminal Manager. Duties may be changed at the desire of management
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to use a computer keyboard to make input and read a computer screen. Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time
