President About the Role The Fleet Manager will oversee all commercial vehicles, drivers, and related assets including their operations, conditions, internal and external policy compliance, and overall performance; is responsible for the safety, efficiency, and performance of the CDL Class A drivers; and works with key leadership to manage the daily activity of the operations, drivers, and equipment operators to meet established goals for a safe and efficient operation. Core Responsibilities Relationship Management Develop close working relationships with leadership Ensure clear and consistent communication with drivers, on-site support, leadership, and administrators Always convey the importance of time whether it is with company drivers, mechanics, or a client or vendor as they are all critical to ensuring timely completion of a job Driver Onboarding & Training Monitor Tenstreet and other sites to recruit new drivers Conduct Clearinghouse and background checks Interview, hire, and train new drivers Conduct new driver training including the Paylocity App for driver timekeeping and the Samsara Driver App for other driving related functions Manage Driver Trainers to ensure policies and procedures are upheld Provide annual Smith System Training for all drivers Conduct weekly and monthly safety trainings/meetings Driver Team Member Performance Motivate and provide leadership to team members through a positive attitude Manage drivers to ensure they follow safe driving practices and adhere to policies, procedures, and dispatch schedules Participate in mid-year and annual performance review procedures for all drivers Mentor and coach drivers who are not meeting job expectations Proactively document and communicate employee performance issues to the President and HR the same day Coordinate with the President and HR to ensure adequate reason and documentation are met prior to terminating a driver Oversee random drug & alcohol testing program Incident Management Ensure all incidents are recorded including photos, videos and the relevant incident forms are completed Ensure post-incident drug & alcohol tests are performed Assist in notification of insurance, coordination of adjuster inspections, and claim resolution Maintain Designated Employer Representative (DER) training and certification Project Management Assist the Logistics Manager with assigning the appropriate resources and personal skills to a job in order to ensure customer satisfaction and company profitability are maximized for all jobs, including short days and single loads Provide field support for job site evaluation and driver logistics Provide backup support for Logistics Manager's duties (dispatch) as needed Reporting and Documentation Review weekly truck reports and address open issues Monitor pre and post trip inspection times and coach drivers with methods for best results Weekly payroll verification of Driver hours through payroll provider (Paylocity) Conduct annual MVR reviews for all CDL Class A drivers Assistance with job administration and job documentation as required Assist Logistics manager to ensure all required paperwork for each project is compiled daily for the billing/accounting department Fleet Management Ensure all equipment is current for emissions testing, licensing, registration, and insurance Track SMS and address/coach on contributing incidents to minimize impact on our score Know and understand Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) and ensure proper driver training on same Maintain current OSHA standards, training, and documentation Obtain fuel quotes and place orders for best pricing Provide backup support in the absence of the Fleet Maintenance Manager Job requirements Positive attitude, team oriented, customer focused, safety conscious and reliable Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc) Experience with Samsara Fleet and Driver applications and JJ Keller Encompass Capable of multitasking, excellent time management skills and highly organized Proven record of managing multiple projects at a time Self-driven and thrives in a fast-paced environment Ability to work in weather, drive for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, safely enter and exit trucks and heavy equipment Job also requires sitting with some walking and standing in both office and field environments Valid CDL Class A with doubles endorsement A minimum of 1 year of belly dump or super experience Current Medical Certificate Clean MVR Must pass a DOT drug screen and background check Mechanical background and experience is a plus Regularly required to talk and hear in order to communicate to employees, customers, and suppliers When Saturday work is necessary, it is expected that you perform all typical related duties as if it were any other day of the week Perform other related job duties as assigned Compensation and Benefits Competitive base salary ($75,000
