Metro Denver, Denver International Airport, and Castle Rock Area Certification Requirement:
Current Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification (CCA or ATSSA card)
Salary:
$25

  • Traffic Control Supervisor.
Purpose of position:
Controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects by performing the following duties. This person is responsible for the Safety of traffic movement through the job site.
Essential duties/responsibilities:
  • Develops, interprets and implements traffic routing plans or MHT, and type and location of control points from TCS 3, Crew Leader or Project Manager.
  • Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern.
  • Directs movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand, and flag signals.
  • Warns laborers and drivers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers.
  • Informs drivers of detour routes through construction sites.
  • Records license number of traffic control violators for police.
  • Gives hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic for Flagger at opposite end of site, signaling clearance for reverse flow of traffic.
  • Gives direction to flaggers.
  • When not working as a TCS, will perform Laborer work as directed.

Additional duties/responsibilities:
Hauls and moves materials at jobsites Stacks materials Shovels and sweeps asphalt Operates small grinders Lays striping materials on roadway Loads and unloads trucks Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Basic reading and mathematical abilities
  • Knowledge and skillful implementation of federal and state regulations for work zone safety and traffic control
  • Knowledge of Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD) guidelines and the translation of this to control traffic by using proper devices and techniques
  • Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand and power tools including hand shovel, pick, construction bar, rake, broom, and other handheld power tools.
  • Knowledge of safety rules for construction sites and the ability to abide by them
  • Communication skills
  • Knowledge of and exposure to hazardous materials
Training/Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current and valid Traffic Control Supervisor Certification by the State of Colorado or ATSSA
  • Valid Flagger Certification
Valid Colorado Driver's License Experience:
  • Two years' experience as a
Traffic Control Supervisor Working Environment:
  • Outdoor environment that includes exposure to rain, sleet, snow, extreme cold, dust, mud, heat, direct sunlight, dark, and noise
  • May be exposed to moving vehicles, exhaust and fumes
Physical Activities:
  • Prolonged standing and bending, reaching, crawling, climbing, grasping, kneeling, squatting, and twisting.
  • Often includes lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling items up to 75 pounds.
