Job Description

Position Overview The Transportation Area Leader is responsible for leading, growing, and managing transportation engineering services within the Orlando and broader Central Florida market. This leadership role combines technical expertise, business development, client relationship management, and team leadership to expand market presence and deliver high-quality transportation solutions. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Lead and oversee transportation operations in the Orlando area, aligning with regional and corporate goals. Develop and execute strategic growth plans for transportation services, including highways, roadways, traffic, and multimodal projects. Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of engineers, planners, and technical staff. Foster a collaborative culture focused on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. Business Development Identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities with FDOT, local municipalities, counties, and private clients. Maintain and strengthen relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Lead proposal development, including technical approach, staffing, and pricing strategies. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations. Project Oversight Provide executive-level oversight on major transportation projects to ensure successful delivery (scope, schedule, budget, quality). Serve as Project Executive or Senior Project Manager on key clients or high-profile projects. Ensure compliance with FDOT standards, local regulations, and company quality requirements. Financial Management Manage area-level financial performance including revenue growth, profitability, and resource utilization. Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and key performance metrics. Ensure effective staffing and workload balance to meet business objectives. Technical Excellence Provide senior technical guidance on transportation engineering and planning projects. Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes. Promote best practices in design, safety, sustainability, and innovation. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Florida or ability to obtain quickly). 12-20+ years of experience in transportation engineering, including leadership roles. Proven experience working with FDOT and Central Florida agencies (strongly preferred). Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team-building abilities. Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management. Deep understanding of transportation design standards, particularly FDOT. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Strong financial acumen and project management expertise. Preferred Qualifications Established client relationships in the Orlando/Central Florida market. Experience leading multidisciplinary transportation projects (roadway, traffic, transit, etc.).
