  • Full-time Operations/Route Manager (BC) This position will be located in the Tampa, FL market for a FedEx Ground independent contracted service provider.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position oversees and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of FedEx package delivery service for an independent contracted service provider. The Manager will have a strong daily presence at the terminal to ensure all production, financial and quality expectations are met; as well as build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with all FedEx employees. This position reports to the Owner.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily planning to ensure all P&D routes are properly staffed, productive, profitable and operating compliant to all laws, DOT requirements and FedEx agreement requirements. Daily analysis of the business to address and improve any underperforming aspects. Daily dispatch of drivers to meet expected productivity and service levels. Responsible for ensuring all employees are scheduled and time worked is recorded and paid accurately. Responsible for the training of drivers to ensure proper methods, safety and compliance with all company policies and regulations. Perform observation rides with drivers for goal setting or performance management purposes. Responsible for ensuring Driver compliance (i.e. daily administrative duties, Hours of Service compliance, Pre-Trip/Post-Trip inspection, safety training). Create a culture of safety, ensuring each driver is safety certified, compliant with all safety training and attends safety huddles and meetings. Ensure Contractor-FedEx contractual obligations are met. Ensure pre-employment tasks are completed in a timely manner. Responsible for performance management of all employees assigned. Manage employee accountability for performance and take needed actions up to and including termination if expected performance is not obtained. HR functions to include interview/hire drivers. Develop and execute contingency plans (i.e. increased volumes, driver absenteeism, weather, late dispatch). Willing to serve as a contingency resource to deliver packages in the event of driver call offs, driver shortages, heavy volume, or any other unforeseen circumstances. Build a successful team through proper communication, coaching and retention. Communicate all issues to your superior with a sense of urgency.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
2-years Management Experience in the transportation industry. FedEx experience is a plus. Detail oriented with an ability to positively influence others across multiple groups. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, relying on experience and judgment, to plan and accomplish tasks. Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Excellent leadership and organizational skills. Ability to understand and use relevant technology-based tools, including various devices and computer-based applications. Ability to delegate and develop employees. Proven problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and speech, internally and externally, and convey information in a timely manner. Positive attitude with an open mind towards change. Exhibit Integrity and Ethics in all dealings. Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work. Days and hours of work require a vast amount of variability coverage to meet business needs.
