Job Description

The Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and management of our logistics terminal. You will ensure efficient and timely movement of goods, coordination of personnel, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Extensive knowledge of Intermodal, Chicago rail, and Indianopolis rail. Must focus on optimizing logistics processes, improve productivity, and meeting customer demands.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate all activities within the logistics terminal, including inbound and outbound shipments, and inventory management, and order fulfillment. This includes monitoring and optimizing workflow to ensure timely and accurate processing of goods. Manage terminal operating budget Control labor costs, overtime, equipment expenses, and vendor spend Ensure on-time pickup and delivery performance Monitor freight flow, chassis utilization, and route efficiency Coordinate import and export shipments from customer base Manage terminal capacity, staffing, and equipment availability Resolve operational disruptions, delays, service failures, and emergencies Recruit, train, and supervise terminal staff, CDL Class A Drivers and administrative personnel. Assign tasks, set performance goals, and provide guidance to maximize productivity and maintain a motivated workforce. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the terminal. Implement and enforce safety policies, conduct regular inspections, and address any issues or concerns promptly. Stay updated on relevant legal requirements and industry best practices. Collaborate with customer service teams to meet client requirements and address any logistics related concerns or inquiries. Maintain effective communication channels to provide timely updates on shipments, delivery schedules, and any potential delays or issues. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess terminal performance and identify areas for improvement. Develop strategies and implement process enhancements to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in Intermodal logistics, or terminal management with progressively increasing responsibilities 5+ years of experience using transportation management systems or other relevant software for tracking and reporting. Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify operational inefficiencies and implement appropriate solutions.
Education:
High school diploma or GED certificate Associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, business management, or a similar field preferred
Certifications:
Valid driver's license (CDL a plus)
