Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Midwest Regional Manager to oversee regional trucking and logistics operations supporting some of the nation's largest retail customers. This role is responsible for managing 150-180 trucks across the Midwest, leading dispatch operations, and maintaining strong relationships with five major accounts.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong dispatch and operational experience, capable of managing both inbound and outbound freight while driving performance, accountability, and customer satisfaction. This position requires availability beyond standard business hours, including maintaining operational awareness over weekends as needed. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations for 150-180 trucks across the Midwest Region, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time performance. Manage 5 major retail accounts, maintaining strong client relationships and service standards. Coordinate and execute inbound and outbound deliveries, optimizing routes, capacity, and scheduling. Directly dispatch drivers as needed and manage a team of dispatchers, providing coaching and performance oversight. Monitor real-time operations and proactively resolve service disruptions, delays, equipment issues, and staffing challenges. Keep a finger on the pulse over the weekend, remaining informed of operations and responding to urgent needs. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and customer requirements. Track KPIs and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement in service levels, utilization, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with safety, recruiting, and maintenance teams to support driver retention, fleet readiness, and safe operations. Serve as the primary escalation point for customers, drivers, and internal teams within the region. Develop regional strategies to improve productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Support onboarding and training for dispatchers and drivers. Prepare performance reports and provide leadership updates on regional results, challenges, and opportunities. Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of experience in trucking, transportation, or logistics operations. Proven experience managing dispatch operations and dispatch teams. Strong understanding of inbound and outbound freight operations. Experience overseeing large fleets (100+ trucks preferred). Solid knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance. Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills with the ability to manage drivers, dispatchers, and customer relationships. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Proficient with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics software. Willingness to remain available outside standard business hours, including weekends when necessary. Preferred Experience Regional management experience within trucking or logistics. Experience supporting major retail accounts. Background in performance management, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with multi-state operations across the Midwest. Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
