Operations Transportation JOB SUMMARY
Assists in the day-to-day management of transportation operations and the professional and timely flow of communications between Transportation Specialists, office support staff, parents, schools, and contractors. Serves as the principal operational assistant and advisor to the Supervisor of Transportation. Additional Work Days/Hours Based on the assignment, the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed: Ability to work flexible schedules Emergencies Evenings/Nights Extended hours Inclement weather conditions On call Summer hours ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides supervision over daily operational issues for Transportation Specialists, Support Specialists, Routers, Training Center, and office support staff Develops effective processes for providing professional and timely communications using the most current and industry recognized technologies, emails, and phone calls. Works with Specialists and Routers to ensure all walk route surveys are completed and walk zone maps are accurate and up to date. Prepares a variety of reports, Board exhibits, and other documents; investigates problems or operational issues; gathers and analyzes data, and assist with recruitment efforts. Responds to questions from the Board of Education, administrators, other school districts, State officials, and County offices. Keeps informed of Board of Education actions, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Maryland Vehicle Administration (MVA) directives pertinent to the operation of the Transportation Division. Tracks all Board agenda items for the office. Serves on various committees and is responsible for developing and editing the committee's reports and maintaining schedules for the Supervisor of Transportation's sponsored committees. Trains, conducts observations and performance appraisals for Specialist and Support Specialist Represents the school system, in the absence of the Supervisor of Transportation, at various governmental, civic, and professional organizations and meetings. Utilizes AACPS computer software systems to research and analyze financial, operational, and project data. Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience Seven (7) years experience in the field of school transportation, safety and training, scheduling, and routing required; and Five (5) years management experience required; and Three (3) years experience with Budget, Finance, Purchasing, Planning, Operations, or Logistics Support preferred; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Knowledge of the school system organization including operation and management of all departments, divisions, and offices. Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and planning skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of relevant Federal and State Regulations and Board policies. Knowledge of current trends and research in field of specialization. Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations. Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred). Licenses and Certifications Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment. Hold or be eligible for Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger Transport (P) and School Bus Authorized (S) endorsement (Maryland) issued by Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) required. Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and Daily access to reliable transportation.
